mike newman Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 ....one of my best ''working ;; pictures from the heady daze of contracting.... Three pieces of plant that reflected quality in every way (...and I know about all the "Mack ' aficionados' on this site..)..and Caterpillar...possibly IH's nemesis.....but I brought a heap of IH equipment also, over the years.... The job was making an all weather road in one of the many New Zealand high country Stations.... Mike 10 Quote

Also had the poster of the 88 series tractors on the curvy gravel road and Catherine Bach in an ad for Honda 3 wheelers. Diverse wall art! 6 Quote

Alan Dinan Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 Not necessarily awesome, but caught this on my way to work one morning. It looked better the day I saw it, not as good the day I took it. First time seeing it, thought it was a 4-wheeler sitting there!! 4 1 Quote
db1486 Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Northern lights made a quick appearance here tonight. Sorta just come from the north real bright, then moved on south to where I couldn't see them anymore. For a good chunk of it, I had to look straight up to see them. That rarely happens here. Anyway I thought they were pretty incredible 16 1 Quote

mike newman Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 ....good to get up to the Station again......the snow had flown but has since returned....still some Red Deer wandering around despite the spreading of 1080 poison over a vast area of the Station and adjacent Molesworth Station and, of course..on the hill tops.... Certainly helps the Helicopter outfits ''bottom line ""...and annoys the heck out of the Chamois /Deer hunting fraternity.... Mike 1080....Sodium Mono Flu Acetate or Sodium Mono Fluoroacetate .....deadly but slow killer..unlike Cyanide for example..... 9 Quote
Alan Dinan Posted October 14, 2024 Posted October 14, 2024 I took a short video and snapped a screenshot during the video. A swarm of Barn Swallows stopped by the lake to get a drink. 7 Quote

Lance......in a word "Bovine Tuberculosis ".....There were several reactors among the 300 plus calves up there this year...which sends the Agricultural Dept 's into a frenzy of over reaction ....All cattle movements off farm cease immediately, untill all the testing of every animal is complete and the subsequent ''rechecks '' are complete and finally all the wankers in white coats and with clip boards will depart and this takes months.. ...and the 1080 poison is spread like confetti on the country side....a ''pre feed ' drop precedes the poison drop so all mustelids /opossums/ pigs and deer get a taste of the pre feed (chopped carrots ] ...and so when the poison is added to the brew....... There is so much public distaste for this sort of barbaric act..that in some areas armed guards are deployed at entry points to an area ...in this case all farm access gates were padlocked and security guards were deployed to keep the angry peasants at bay.... Welcome to NZ...sigh Mike 1 Quote
