Last Christmas my wife gave me a form for a quilt that is made up of old shirts. We needed to cut up some of my old t shirts and send them in to be put together into a quilt. (Project repat} Almost all of them are old motorsports shirts, some over 30 years old. After recovery of fighting a cold, the last week or so. Finally getting the big bore 351 prepared to build. Machining was finished late summer, waited to build in the winter, with minimal chances of the iron rusting. Tapped all the holes today, mineral spirts scrub and then a bath of hot water/air, then finally blown dry with air. Next step is to coat the valley and start assembly.

Wish me luck, previous owner said he never heard it run, been sitting for 20 or 30 years. Built in 1968 the 090AV is Stihl’s biggest saw with a 137 CC motor.

That wasn't so bad...power was only out for about an hour and a half. Temperature dropped to -1°F. in that time. House was still at about 65 degrees. The dispatcher I talked to when I reported the outage was one of my best friends from high school so it was nice catching up with him a little.

That's pretty neat! I like that idea. Great way to get rid of some old shirts. Unfortunately if I tried to do that with my old shirts the quilt would be full of holes and tears 😂

This 6 hat rack was very handy when the boys were still home and there were 4 of us wearing black felts. Since they have all left home it has become a two hat rack for my everyday hats (town, wedding and funeral hats are in hat boxes in gun room) and "extra storage"😔😄 Horseshoes rule!

Sorry to hear this Paul. I know they say a round a bout is better but I have yet to see how. They are a nightmare to navigate correctly in any sort of traffic.

Grinding the remaining powder coat off to repaint. If there was ever a reason not to use it, this is it. Also went with chains for limiting the tilt

We now have four and they are planning a fifth i like them a lot better than a four way light,traffic flows better, they all have a small curb on the inside and trailers can drive right over them.

Deere had no products at the time to even compete with IH in anything other than the small crawler market. IH, Allis, and Cat were doing all of the big jobs.

Bought myself a Christmas present Always wanted an onland plow and finally found one close by. 45 minutes one way with tractor and half hour to hook up and change a hydraulic tip that was worn and leaked. Roads were clean yesterday, that was a plus.

Horses can eat the hay right along side the cows you won't notice your bottom line on a ranch On a say 100-160 acre farm with several teams of horses how much of the cropland goes to the horses? Even something dinky as a JD L or cub could prove its worth on a 50 acre farm. I think guys hung to horses more for tradition and nostalgia and there is nothing wrong with that.

I hate to say it, but it does need said, We need to forget about China as a Soybean buyer going forward. We're not friends anymore and quite frankly, the Chinese don't need our Beans. All the world talk of sustainable agricultural only seemed to constrain the US. The slash and burning of the rainforest that we're supposed to care about, isn't a concern of the people that actually live there. And all of our corporations and BTOs that went down and made a fortune. Using cheap labor, displacing local populations and no regulatory obstructions they've made quite the operation. So we need to seriously think about our use of soybeans as a cash crop here in the US going forward. Until something drastically changes down there, we're now the little guy at the poker table and we dealt ourself a bad hand.

Buy independently. I will sell you a quarter. I might even make you a deal on it if you were to transport another half back east. By comparison though, beef has increased at a slower pace than nearly every other food. How much has an airline ticket increased? Yes beef is expensive but so is everything else.

They are simply not designed for any sort of truck traffic. Not really anything with a trailer period. I pulled a 43' drop deck around one with a single axle 4900 and no matter what I tried it took the entire circle.

For a long time dad cured our own hams and bacons. He actually did a good job of it but sometimes the injected parts of the ham would accumalate to much pepper. Always cured them in November or early December. He had two new garbage cans that we used just for that purpose. He would cure the bacons for a few days maybe 3 or 7 but the hams were a couple weeks.

My friends teen girl has a 20-teenish Nissan Altima. Clean car, loaded, low miles, perfect girls 1st car imho. Probably $12000 -/+ rig Lady "bonked" her in town on a 2 lane when the lady was changing lanes. Her small car hit friends girl right in front of the rear left tire. Door, wheel well, not terrible really. Door stuck though. Insurance totaled it! Like it need a big day + of hammer and new door. I would of guessed 5k repair for the door and time. He bought it back for $? Drives perfect. If i took a pic most would be shocked at the lack of damage

To answer questions without individual reply: This is a northeast truck all its life. Somehow it survived this long. We just keep fixing whatever goes wrong. I was in it today. Actually mileage is 317000+. Rust is minimal, very minimal. I had the cab corners and rockers done years ago. They have held up well. The frame is good. I had the bed off maybe 10 to 12 years ago and we wire brushed, cleaned, and put bed liner on the frame. The cross member that holds the spare tire was replaced with a junk yard take off at that time. We cut off the rivets and bolted the replacement in. I had someone weld in fuel tank supports at one point. Since the bed was off i have had the frame coated with an oil concoction yearly. Drive train is probably a ticking time bomb. Original 8.1 and Allison 5 speed. Runs and drives 100%. Everything works including ac. No reason to get rid of it because like Troy said it isn't worth anything. Maybe i should strengthen the bed sides up and run it until it needs an engine or trans? Other option put a flatbed on and take it off when the time comes.

Prime rib is my favorite,we cook one every year during Christmas, it took several tries to get it perfect but we have it down now. First step is to season it the day beforehand, i use the better than bouillon beef base and Kinder's prime rib rub. Remove from the fridge and let it sit until it gets to room temperature. We cook it on a pellet smoker at 250 degrees,until it hits 120 internal temp then pull it off,cover it,and let it rest 30 minutes. Crank the smoker to 500 degrees and cook it to 130 degrees internal, maybe 10 minutes, let it sit another 30 minutes and dig in.

Since when have Bimmer owners ever done something so earthy as attempt to maintain or repair their own automobile??

I feel sorry for you. You have probably never eaten a decent steak the way you describe it.

I'm sure I'm the odd man out here and will say prime rib is not my favorite cut of beef. But that does look delicious @lorenzo. That ham looks delicious too. I fatten a few calves each year and butcher 1 so that we have plenty of beef in the freezer. For the most part pork is still a bargain, but I did have my wife buy a pork shoulder roat a few weeks back so that I could smoke it and make pork carnitas, and I was surprised by the cost. It too was much more expensive than I expected.

Roosa Flex rings tend to fail immediately after been sitting for a long time. Not uncommon at all. I rebuild a lot of them here for this very reason.
