There's a map that shows we're in the high probability of losing power, and it is supposed to be around 32° for the high into mid next week. I'm preparing as best I can. Quote
oleman Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Down here in North Texas National Weather Service told us to plan on weather at around 25F, with a 100% chance of sleet and a chance of 1 " of snow, will be melted and gone next Tuesday 27 Jan 26. Typical winter slush ice event, last time was in 2021. Hopefully it will get cold enough, long enough, to kill the fire ants that have moved into this area. Stay warm and stay off the roads except for must-do chores: be safe Quote

It has been a while since we got that low in these parts, but all the precip is staying south of me... I would trade some of the cold for a little snowstorm. I was thinking about calling AKWelder, tell him we appreciate the gesture, but he doesn't have to feel guilty if he keeps all this winter stuff for himself;) 1 Quote
cjf711 Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Im reminded today with the dipping temperatures that i never flushed out the heater core on the pickup thus no real heat on the driver side. I really like the cummins motor, and the coil suspension is nice, but the heater works really poorly for an 18 model year anything in my opinion. Quote

db1486 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 I'm kind of glad I live where it's cold enough that we have straight #1 diesel. That's all we run from about November till April here. Don't have much fuel issues in the cold here. -33c here today, gonna be -40 shortly. Cows get fed everyday here Quote

Lots of semis found alongside the highway in the winter gelled up that are passing through from warmer areas running summer blend. We are between 60-70” for this week before this big hyped up storm. 12-24”, big deal. Its the lake effect coming back next week after that is likely to be more of a problem. Saying maybe another 70” week. Just wish these 30-40 mph winds we have had all week would quit. 1 Quote

Cows get fed everyday here When super, super cold, you can add up to 5% gas to pure #1. The media is having a, "The sky is falling!" event with this storm. Some guy was shown in Kansas, standing in the snow telling of all the clothes he had on. Four layers, mittens, hand warmers and it was only zero. You could tell he hasn't spent much time in the cold. 2 Quote

Not a fan... supposed to slack off around noon/one then start again sometime tonight. But, we still have power so there's that at least. Hopefully it'll stay on, but the wind is pretty high and it's still coming down. Quote
