I'm really starting to wonder about the real reason for all these cam failures

I had a couple fail and broke them in the same as I did 40 years ago. The last one I did I put a roller cam in it with the cool lifters. It hasn't failed yet and the profiles on roller cams are better so its a win win although I just saw the current price ! wow!

I've read guys talking about the tie bars coming apart or breaking too. So who knows..🤷‍♂️

That's why I said it hasn't failed yet. I  don't know anyone else who has used them .but I have heard some online rumors.  So far so good 15 years later but low miles

Highly unlikely it will see any miles with me.i don't have any desire to drive it

Started on this yesterday morning. The tree farm I work at messaged me that there was something hot/ burning on their Jacto air cannon sprayer. They cooled the hot areas with a hose and left the tractor and sprayer outside. A few days passed till I got a chance to look at it. I went and got the tractor and brought it to our shop. Started talking covers off and thought might not be to bad a couple belts off. Then looked closer. Ball bearings were missing most of their balls. Set the sprayer on a stack of pallets to get it a working height. Found I couldn’t get the pto shaft of the tractor. Looked closer splines were twisted. Popped out the stub shaft. It took a punch to drive the release button in. Big drift to drive the pto shaft off the stub. Had other obligations so wasn’t able to get more apart Thursday. Going to go back at it tomorrow morning.

Posts rotted off on my wood shed, so I’m raising it up about 20”. It was too short when I built it 30 years ago. Wheelbarrow was down at my other place so used some old mineral tubs for dirt and mixing concrete

What tractor is this?  Looks like a CIH Maxxum stub.  If it is I would speculate it was an aftermarket stub with less than adequate hardening.

CaseIH MX90C maxxum. I have no idea if it’s an aftermarket or not but I’m stopping at Messick’s on Monday after work to order parts for the tractor and sprayer. 
 

Got it apart today. The main shaft is shot. One bearing race looks like it may have welded itself to the shaft. The shaft under the one race I got off has so much galling on the shaft it’s not worth the time to repair it. Plus the bearing housing is damaged on the inside so I’m hoping to get an assembly shaft/hub/bearing etc…

Ok.  Most likely the PN as what I use in my MX Maxxums.  Do not accept an A&I stub if they offer it to you.  Yea its cheaper; no its not cheap enough for what it is.  Not even close.

Looks like a perfect application for a utility tractor and a 6' brush mower. Our 454 IH diesel and the Deere 802 shredder meet most requirements.

Major water leak in my basement. 1" pipe that supplies the outbuildings. The coupling is cracked wide open!  I believe i have the right parts.  Hope that rusty old pipe will seal up.

We rented a bob cat skid steer with 4 foot hydraulic brush cutter . It is the best thing ever for cutting clean lanes in a chestnut trees orchards. Gets under limbs and just destroying the under growth. Thanks you’re absolutely right on !

When I replaced my house I did hard copper on everything. I know that will last looonnng time. Still dont trust pex pipe or anything plastic for long term. Easier to put in but until it lasts more than 50 years i won't trust it and I will be dead before that...

Looks to me that's a compression fitting. I might be wrong,

Made a road trip for some rough cut poplar to use on a project. This is 1/2 of what I picked up. It's all stickered and inside now.

The sumac in the chestnut orchard lanes was a tougher challenge for the super c and the four foot  trailer brush cutter. The super c wide front would knock the 2 to 3 inch diameter over at ground level . But The frame of the ( heavy) brush  cutter would ride up on the sumac like a sled runner and go right over them . Leaving stubble 5 to 7 feet long. 
The wider wheel on the C would just knock them over, making it worse. 
My son rented the bobcat with the hydraulic brush cutter. It comes up to the stubble and vertical down to grade the cutter was the perfect solution. 
Don’t want to do sumac work! that’s it .
We piled the sumac in the chestnut rows so sprayer could navigate ,through. I’ll take the chipper shredder out soon and chip them up .ugh !

If you have chlorinated water your copper will get eaten from the inside out.  If your water is treated with hydrogen peroxide your yellow metals will enjoy an even shorter life.  I will not install anything put PVC or PEX anymore.  PEX line itself will last half of forever.  It is the brass fittings that fail first.  One poly to avoid at all cost is CPVC when used with very hot water.  It will get very brittle over time.

Our well water must be slightly acidic as I notice a slight green tint while cleaning the shower. So far when I have opened any copper lines they still seem okay.

PEX: Yes! So simple, so fast. I installed a filter and UV sterilizer a little over a year ago. With all the valves for the filter bypass and such it would have been a lot of soldering but with PEX it was snip snip snip crimp crimp  crimp, job done.

Water tested with Coliform but never E. coli. We never had a problem but now a gazillion turkeys wander through the yard and roost in the trees so hopefully the UV will take care of it.

Got lucky in an online sale and have another road trip to make now. These cabinets will end up hung on the poplar pictured above. Bought 9 in total. Seven are 36x25x12 and two are 18x25x12. All are metal with glass front doors and adjustable shelves.

I’m not handsome, but. Handyman! Only took me 2 months but I got this board replaced i broke with the Farmall C not paying attention to the shed ramp. 
I would rather think about it for awhile. 
Then hit hard cause I need it done to stop tripping over it you know? 
even cut 15 degree angles into the runway to match that the original construction didn’t bother with 👀
