Where is the 7788 Tractor

Anyone know where the 7788 that was sold at the Manitoba auction in 2017 is? It sold for $140,632 US dollars. The 2nd of only 2 that were made.

Yes i believe it is outside of minot. Those guys have a lot of unique stuff. We did some utility locating in their area and yard I could have spent the entire year there. Even Ford 8 or 9000 series mfwd I didn’t know existed. Apparently in Europe there was a couple of that model sitting in the lineup

Yes I believe. I don’t want to be intrusive on their collection but this is the public map of their lower dollar stuff outside. If you want to play guess the tractor by air. Google map Minot ND and scroll for a while around it.

A lot of different all ag or rev related though. Now they just collect tractors. When they have to many a sale will pop up on auction time selling some then apparently they buy more. The dads name was Darrold or Darrell Swenson. From the beginning they were ag dealer I think in allis chalmers. Had a dealer in Saskatchewan and in northwest minnesota. If I remember then they started selling rvs and campers in Minot. Now I think they have a spot in Texas also selling RVs. Dad bought a used 1460 for parts years ago from the rv store and they were nice to deal with.  If the dads name pops up you will see he was involved with the gleaner L4 combine before it got shut down.

According to the Red 4WD book, both 7388’s were bought new together by the same person. I talked with the original owner and he gave me the story of how he had lost them and helped a bank sell them. Another “family screwed me” story.

They used to sell and service high end motor homes, like prevo and silver eagle. 2 dealerships, Minot and San Antonio

In the 7788?  7288 and 7488 yes.  I thought the 73, 75, and 7788 were just facelifts of the 43, 45, and 4786, so they would have the 10 speed truck trans.  Although I thought I read that the 7788 had a 20 speed, so a 10 speed with a high low?

I could be completely wrong.  Never seen any of these in person, and only read about them here.

I assume the 75/7788s used the 2-speed transfer case that Steiger used in their tractors of that vintage as they are listed as having 20-speed transmissions. I also assume they both still used the Spicer 10-speed transmissions that the 45/4786s did.

I believe the 7388 used a 10-speed Fuller Road-Ranger transmission like the 4386s did.

So the 7788 was detuned some compared to a 4786? Was there a lot of problems with the DVT800 when set at 350 hp? My dad borrowed our neighbors 4586 when it was new. He was impressed, but we didn’t have anything like that back then. He said it ran off with the 32’ disk. Our neighbors didn’t keep any tractors long enough to wear them out back then. I know they had some engine problems with their 4786 when it was new. It was eventually traded on a new 975 Versatile.

Dad bought a used 4586, had around 1500-2000 hours on it and it was in the shop for head gaskets 2-3 times in the 3 years he had it. 
I have since heard that the rpm’s were set too high for that engine.

Looks like the headlight design was changed a little bit from the brochure to the actual tractor.....

Back to my original question from years ago...after that auction in Canada happened, it became apparent that there were no less than three 7788s and 7388s that were built and sold to the public. Has there been any other 7588s that have been found other than the one that lived in Iowa for years that is now owned by the Swensons in ND?

I knew a guy that worked for Grouser dozers up in West Fargo, ND, years ago that had pictures of a 7588 when they were new. Grouser actually got ahold of it to see about making a dozer & mounts to work on it. I don't recall that any of the pictures showed an actual finished product of a dozer mounted to the 7588, but they did have the actual tractor there.
