20 or more over is a more serious offense in Maine. They hide places around here-over knolls, around curves etc.

I know people who get so many speeding tickets they have to pay lawyers big bucks get out of them to keep from loosing their license...

My wife has a lead foot,she has her attorney on speed dial.

About a $150 fine and 2 points on you license? Your insurance company might notice that! Maybe not. Speeders always worried me when our kids were home and driving on our 2 lane highway. But then they may have been the ones speeding!

My grandma got pulled over doing 70 in about a mile and a half stretch of road between two turns. Grandpa was in assisted living and wouldn’t eat lunch without grandma. She lost track of time and was running late. State cop let her go with a verbal warning, and he wasn’t known for being generous!

Mom got pulled over once and the cop asked if she was related to my dad. She said she was his wife, cop told her to slow it down and tell dad hello!

Dad and I met him during the flood of 93 and knew what all dad had lost. Dad got caught by the portables set up about 2/10ths of a mile from the elevator that was 2 miles from home. That cop pulled up just after the ticket was written and he apologized for not being five minutes earlier.

I lost my privilege to drive for less than what you did. Didn’t help that I had straight pipes probably.

My pickup is old enough it doesn’t even have overdrive. I’m not going not get a speeding ticket unless I’m driving through town.

20 over in Va is reckless driving. A much more significant ticket than speeding. That would be worth a lawyer here. The worst thing for you now is having to be extra diligent for the next 3 years to not speed anywhere.  Multiple tickets are not good.

I believe the last speeding ticket I have received was when I was checking out our 73 Dodge Dart powered by a 440 MAG engine, I was actually moving in the high 80's in a 70 MPH zone, CHP looked the Dart over and  wrote me a ticket for driving at 83 in a 70.

Got rid of my old car partly because I didnt trust myself anymore, was making reckless and frankly stupid decisions "for fun" and was lucky on a number of occasions to not hurt myself or anyone else. 

I enjoy the slower pace in my pickup these days, on what I call the "safe bits of road" (straight with a clear line of sight ahead) - I do smile when I see someone overtake me clearly enjoying their vehicle...

Probably doesn’t work well for a ‘65 F-100 with a decent 289 in it. Probably the second biggest piece of junk I have ever owned, but the cops loved it.

I got it all out of my system the fall I left home

In a very short period of time I racked up 21 points off my license from speeding to negligent (never alcohol involved) (very young cop said "I could ticket you for willfull reckless (6pts) but the wheely you were riding down O Street in Lincoln Nebr looked very controlled and you weren't speeding, just not using all your wheels so I'll just ding you for negligent (3pts) ) "😄

I honestly do all I can to make any stop or CDL inspection pleasant and usually both of us part laughing and knowing each other a bit better.......I haven't had a citation in 45 years of a lot of miles donw the road. 

As a member of the fire dept we often work with the Sheriffs Dept and State Patrol so get to know each other on a professional level. 

Not a lot of people out here so we all get to know each other personally as well. 

Off duty, they drink beer and relax like the rest of us!

Got nailed many years ago headed to local college for night class.   Trooper was nice and asked what my hurry was.  Was doing 70 in 55 zone.  Told him I was not going to lie.  I was going to be late for Mrs Johnson’s English class.  He said you need to slow down but I understand.  I hade her once!  Whew.  Let me go.

Back a few years ago when I was in my early20s, I was working about an hour from home. I passed right by a coworkers parents place in the town of a troopers barracks. One day he asked me to drop a part off at his dad’s. When I got there, there was a trooper there that went to school with one of the brothers of the coworker. The brother intruded us and trooper said “I’ve seen you drive through town.” I didn’t think much of it until a few months later I was late for work and went flying right by one in a parking lot doing radar, I was over 55 in a 35. Almost waited at the stop sign but they never pulled out. Few more months later a got a different truck and they had a roadblock checking registrations. I pulled up to a female officer that I had not met and she said “oh you got a new truck? We will remember it”.  Now remember this is New York State troopers I am talking about, not some small town constable. However they would not pull over a resident of that town and I was deemed as good as a resident.
