acem Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Started the 826D and picked up the 900 plate planter. Took off a closing disk assembly so I can get bearings, bolts, etc. I like to have all the old parts with me so I get the right ones new. It's rained here and too wet to do any work. 6 Quote

td9bcf180 Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Sorry if I'm butting in here on you rubber tired guys but my tractor is on tracks. Did a little landscaping yesterday getting rid of dead elms and brush. The old TD9-91 has a birthday this year- age 70. Works like a charm. 13 Quote

Northern Machine Works was located in Bathurst, New Brunswick and (must have) been owned by a Smith family as they called these Smith angle dozers (as seen on the blade). I have only seen pictures of B-E setups and they look like heavier/bigger cylinders than these ones. You can still see the Smith sticker on the lift arm as in this picture. 6 Quote

Yes, I agree- there has to be more to the story. Look at the differences between the B-E over the track lifting mechanism in the one photo and the other Canadian "Smith" one in British Columbia. The plant on the east coast of Canada must have had the exclusive rights all across the country- but only for a few years in the 1950's (?) 3 Quote
