I agree. That dog had him pretty much at the base of his ear to the throat area and had all the fight out of that raccoon. When I I picked him up the coon came with him. I was afraid he was a sick one. No marks on the dog and he is fine.

We went away to visit some family for a few days this week - I think these two missed eachother.

He knows when we're off somewhere as soon as I get the suitcase out and sits by the door looking sad. 

You simply cant replicate the relationship between a boy and his dog.

   Sorry to hear about your buddy Cash.

 

     I lost my redbone that was named Cash about 2 years ago, I never called him Cash very long, we didn't start out meshing for awhile so he ended up with 2 names he answered to, 1st was dumb a##, then once we started meshing it switched to #hit head,  the poor guy had spent his first year of life in a crate in apartment so once out in country where he could run he lost all his brains for awhile, but once he got the stupid ran out he was awesome farm dog extremely smart and my buddy,

Sorry to hear Jeff. FRom all the pics you posted and the way you talked about him he was as mart and well loved  and with the way I know dogs I know he loved you both.

That's heartbreaking, especially knowing you lost Gus not that long ago. Maybe that's why Django came along when he did, to soften the blow a bit. Losing them is inevitable, but never easy to accept. Hang in there buddy.

Gus and Cash were inseparable in life and they are together again. Healthy happy and chasing cows and rabbits in heaven .

As much as I miss them both I am so glad they are together again

And you are so right about Django. The Lord sent this little fireball of energy Angel to me when I needed him the most.

   The little rat dog name is Baby and she's a little miffed in that pic lol.

         She has ruled the roost around here for 10-12 years Cash was still pup in that pic he got up to over 110 lbs huge for coonhound, at least once a month he'd kill a coon,possum, and occasionally a Coyote and leave at bottom of stairs for me to find, but when I fed them he'd sit patiently while the 18 lb baby ate first lol 

     Our new big dog is black lab, Australian Shepherd, pit bull mix, he was 88 lbs of solid muscle last trip to vet and the old lady rat dog puts him in his place lol.  When he ticks her off she clamps on his lip and shakes, funny as heck he takes off running and yelping with 18 lbs of rat terrier hanging off his lip.

     I've had dogs all my life and loved everyone of them, occasionally the good lord blesses us with one that just is extra special, in my 60 plus years I've been blessed with a few,sounds like you was also blessed with Cash and Gus.

   I am sure I've shed more tears over my dogs then I have for even my folks passing, even now while my little rat dog is snoring and I think digging up a mouse in her sleep on my lap,I have trouble holding back tears looking at the grey in her face and knowing at most she's got couple years left 😔

JRT = Jack Russell Terrier. They are excellent vermin dogs! They definitely rule the roost as you said about Baby! My 1st JRT would get into it with my lab/chow mix and the JRT always won but neither came out without some sort of bleeding injury. Usually the lab/chow would have a bleeding lip or tongue. 

Ours current JRT, Dogler, is an excellent mouser...better than any cat I've known.  Sounds like Cash was a pretty special guy. 🙂 I had a Bassett hound and a beagle long ago. Hounds are some of the most stubborn, goofy and loving dogs I've been around.

Went on inlaw family trip to costa rica last week

Their dogs are like our coons.... no respect it seems.  All over and skinny.  Every breed and color.  Some you kinda wish you has a .22 since they look miserable and then others are so cute you wanna pack em in csrry on.

Lucy went with me to the hunting shack last night.

She knew I was looking at something but well, she’s a little short to see. She runs the deer off from the yard at the house so she wouldn’t have been any help if she could see out.

But she did wonder why there wasn’t a peephole cut for her in the corner!  😂

A good dog works its way into your heart and makes a permanent place there.... I had a dream just last night that I was rubbing my sweet little Feisty on the head and she was looking up at me with those trusting eyes....  woke up in a sweat and stared at the ceiling awhile.  I still miss her.
