MT Matt Posted March 26 Posted March 26 Tore into the leaking hydraulic controls on the 650. Its heavy, awkward and two hoses stayed on a section. I found the bad O-ring but all of them were stiff. So all 14 were replaced. Had just enough on hand. After cleaning each section in the parts washer, spraying down with ether and blowing it out with compressed air, the whole thing was put back in and shields bolted on. No runs, drips or errors (for now). Another repair off the list! 10 Quote
mike newman Posted March 26 Posted March 26 ...been back logging for a Canadian owned outfit...just finishing a block of 30 yr old 'pruned butts'' Monterey Pine. ..As the previous socialist Govt sold all New Zealand's exotic Forest to Mr 'ucking Wu...and his Chinese buddy's...there are very few private blocks left...Crazy stuff..but that is how it is....so there are private sawmills begging for these few blocks that are in private hands..... The Excavator is the old venerable Komatsu (20 ton )...with full grouser chains for hill work...full guarding and a 15 inch cab lift to facilitate lifting the trailers off the truck... The skidder tractor is the D5 high track .... The truck is run by a independent bloke ...only 3 axle trailer, as the ' big guys' run 5 axle trailers which requires 30 /35 ton excavator to lift them off the truck... Needless to say..I am not on the saw..picture of the sawyer about to take down a ''leaner''...hence the grapple ready to push the tree away from a line of of decorative trees behind the excavator... Gearclash Posted March 27 Posted March 27 After nearly 20 years of trouble free service my DeWALT mitre saw suddenly ceased to work. Figured either the brushes were bad or the motor had burned out. Pulled the motor cover and found plenty of brush and no sign of cooked windings. Tried to turn the saw blade and found it was locked up. A little back and forth and it started turning again but unhappily. Removed the drive belt cover and it didn’t take long to find that the Chinese main motor bearing had packed up shop and was heading out of town. Explains why the saw was noisy for the last while . . . Cheap fix and easy enough I guess. 7 Quote

It was supposed to be pre-finished but didn't come that way..... If you find yourself in my spot send me a text or call me and I'll give you some pointers I learned the hard way. forwhldrv Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Got the 730 out of winter storage after I got the float ride seat back on it to disc that there was no room between the steering wheel and seat to speak of so decided to I’d move the seat back made a couple brackets to move the seat back I’ll fill the hydraulic fluid before I bolt the seat on. We will use the hydraulics once at plow days I plan to pull my NO16 4 bottom with it. Then the weight will go on it and the hyd pump shut off. I made a couple brackets for the back to hold some suitcase weights I should be able to fit 22-2500 pounds on the back of it for stone boat pulls. I made a step to get on the front side it was a leftover bracket for a catwalk on the cement silo at work I was recycling it’s to long of step between the belly weight bracket and the axle and not much room between the tire and dash. I’ll make a small step on the end of the weight bracket to step up on rebuilt the carb on my daughters four wheeler think the tank needs to come off it will run great then acts like it’s out of gas will only run on choke at a high idle. 7 Quote

Tank needs cleaning. We had one of these when I was growing up, which my brother still has, along with a dozen or so others. I've got half as many, most just parts machines. This particular unit came from an ex-dealer in VA Beach who sold me all the remaining Frazer stuff he had some 20 years ago. 11 Quote

Parked the 45 and mower in front of it but that's easy to move. Kind of forgot about that set of 18.4's that came off the 856, hmmm, need to find a home for them.... 7 Quote

Sledgehammer Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Got one coat of Semi-Gloss Urethane on after work today. So far so good.... Maybe I can get a coat on the other side tomorrow. Probably shoot for 3 coats and lightly sand between 2 and 3. This was brushed on to try and save the wood grain in the fiberglass. 3 Quote

I’m surprised it ran as long as it did for an early 9.0. It had 8,000 hours and burned a lot of antifreeze before we got done planting the last year it ran. There was a lot of coolant in the pan when we drained it. I’m sure it needed an overhaul no matter what the problem is. It’s getting a Deere reman engine. Quote

Neighbor has an 8225R with likely an original engine with over 13,000 hours on it. Runs good yet but leaking engine oil at the front of the block. To be fair that tractor put on quite a lot of hours on a mixer wagon. 1 Quote

Using a rotary table to produce a part with an angular slot, to be used as part of a fixture for securing pipe to the mill table. The HBM is my favorite machine tool to run and the rotary table is my favorite tool accessory. 6 Quote
