I don’t use hammers and dolly’s cause it just creates more work. Only use industrial cheat gun to warm the metal . Learned my lesson on Fordson Fenders. I cut out templates of the good fender and use c clamps to return metal to it original shape, it has memory , just I have to find it, and put it back there . 8 1 Quote

dale560 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Swapped a crankshaft in a N14 Cummins for my concrete buddy. His guys pulled the engine and pan, front cover , bell housing. I swapped rod, main bearings in and crankshaft for him. I rolled in main and rods last year for him I frame but the thrust area on crank was really bad so he wanted to swap crank. They found the thrust bearings in oil plug hole during oil change. after that I started pulling down a 05 or 06 ism Cummins with egr in a mixer truck. This one he bought used out of Sioux Falls sd area last year but it burns oil. I have the engine apart now and suprising it is pretty good shape inside. So going to just throw a aftermarket kit into it and reuse the head. 9 Quote

Hopefully just fuel that pooled in the valley of the 7.3 when I pulled the drain valve. Looked quite a while with it running and not running. Can't for the life of me see any other leaks. When I got it 15 years or so ago, it had been overheated so bad that all the plastic cowling had melted onto the block. Governor gear inside also melted. I put it back together enough to run, figuring I would replace it when it blew up. It never did, but is getting hard enough to start to be annoying and leaking antifreeze almost as fast as I could pour it in. So, I fixed the locked up engine I had bought as a replacement years ago and put it in. Guy had supposedly rebuilt it, but used silicone for a pan gasket leaving the crank no end play and partially blocking the main oil passage. It didn't run long enough to do much damage. 7 Quote
IHKeith Posted February 14 Posted February 14 We were working on this 2001 Chev 3500 this week. It’s a pretty decent truck, has the 8.1L. It had one broken wheel stud starting out and broke another 4 studs coming apart. It needed a front wheel bearing replaced, the bolts were seized right in there and the hex was depleted. I heated the flange where the threads are and still stuck, blew most of the female side of the thread away except for a 1/16-1/8 at the seam of the bearing and spindle and still didn’t come, blew the last bit off and then it went. We installed some new 285/75R16s, it’s a good look. 12 Quote

DT Fan Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Worked on the roof of my corn crib today, hopefully good for another 5 years os so now.... Buddy Dan was over, we worked on some trees too. One loader bucket of walnut firewood and three of brush. My view is improved an immeasurable amount. Good times! Quote
