Then all kinds of hurdles will get in thier way. The big point from the article is it said "shallow sea" up up hear if it's shallow enough they get a permit and build an island (or find a natural one) to drill from, much better than a platform. If they have to put 125 miles of line in to get to the Alpine fields there is some very serious work to bring this to market. Alpine was 20 some miles and on land and they claimed well over 10 million man hours to bring oil into the pipeline 8ft of water less than 2 miles out. Also read they want to build a gravel island. BOBSIH856
I thought I would share this article since it is about Alaska and mentions the flower industry. Are you part of the grower association? http://fsa.blogs.govdelivery.com/2016/09/30/with-farm-service-agency-help-alaska-producers-are-working-to-meet-the-demand-for-local-food/

AKwelder
I have been working at getting the welder I picked up this summer running, well there were issues with the magneto, timing, a mix of 6 volt and 12 volt components, and rust in the tank after it was running I needed to clean the tank, so I filled it with some pea rocks and tumbled it some days you use what you have, anyway I cleaned it out and shook out the rocks. Then off to NAPA to ask for a sediment bowl cork gasket, I am not kidding the guy just looked and me and blinked about 3 times before asking me "a bowl of what?" anyways, from the dead, she lives She welds better than any new machine, and now that it is working, maybe it's time to do a Tony style restore? But first I need to weld a fence and some gates

We are trying to grow peonies for wholesale, they take 4 years to mature and then give a crop for 20 to 30 years those old flathead continentals with straight pipes do sound good
Grumpy Gaby
I remember in my younger days, the sawmill had four of those gray portables with the red seal engines. Three were great, one wasn't good at all. They would really crackle when you struck an arc! I remember that a 52" ring debarker had brocken lose from its base the night before. When I got to work, the night crew had drilled horizontal holes in the concrete base, bolted 1 1/2" plates on each side, and got enough weld on each side to restart the mill. When I set down the only time that I got a break was when my boss was refilling the welder with gas. If I remember right, I went through a little over a 50# box of 1/8" lh 7018 doing stringer beads. My brother was on the other side doing the same thing with another red seal! GOOD WELDERS!!!!

The older the machine the better they weld, this one is 1959

I have 10 round bales on my gooseneck so it's not available, and I'm not sure it'll fit in the dump trailer but there are other options. I have the smaller trailer that I hauled the disk and plow on, it will support this, and my wife has the keys to the truck, so i am most of the way there. I spoke with the seller and then talked to my wife. She is going to go over to see it run Friday night, if it runs and drives she is going to buy it, she is really mechanical inclined so i will go with her call, and she can video it and call me while she is there. SMOKER 1
Lucky guy in many ways! My wife is pretty good if it has a nice paint job and no dents. And to have a fellow forum member close enough to go look at it for you. That is what makes this forum great! jerry

Here in Valdez they just got 4 inches of slush but that means there must be more in the mountains, right?
poor farmer/logger
One can only hope. Might be a good year if the snow keeps coming like it has been around here. Just a couple hours north they've had 3 feet already. Made a real mess though trees down everywhere and of course no frost for the groomer to travel on.
