I have been telling people for years, got a kid who doesn't want to go to college for 4 years? Send them to welding class. We always are looking for more guys/gals in the trade.  

 

And if you need some welding I think I still have the directions to your place, although I might melt in the summer, 104? Dang

 We'll save your trips for fun times & cooler temps.

     Your right on young kids that do not like school ,A good welder in these parts are sought after.

     I have a young man in  forties that I've known since he was in grammar school hauling hay for me ,that went to vocational school for welding .

   He loves it ,is self employed has two nice welding trucks , Married, two lovely daughters bought few acres with house and shop and is loving his career. Problem is some of these Companies keep him occupied for months . I have to wait till he has a break to get his service.

    This is his first mobile unit and now he built a bigger one.

bedn wonderful weather down here. Kids and wife are coming down on Thursday and we are going for halibut on Friday   The pink salmon are coming in so the kids will get some fishing

we went fishing, it was foggy so we went out on radar with zero visibility. Then we battled rough seas. but in the end here are my boys fishing for halibut and the wife in the background along with another kid on charter

we had to stay in the right spot since the boats in open water going after the lunkers were battling 6 to 10 foot seas, and i was just fine with that. we saw halibut in the 30 inch range and a couple on the much bigger range. We also got a few Cod and other got some rock fish. The deck had offered to clean them for tips towards his college fund. Well I said heck yeah, and then later realized we had no pictures of the haul, oh well

we did limit out, and got a nice batch of fillets. But nothing huge. my boys had a blast and the family stayed in Valdez for the weekend while I worked.

Then we headed off shore, as soon as the darn computer lets me I will up load another batch of photos. even when trying to upload only 135 Kb it says it is to big

okay, the loose nut behind the wheel got is working

a nice day with a tanker coming in

Then the fog rolled in

and the work site a half mile off shore

we were in 80 foot of water and a ways up

Stopped by my next potential sight and drove in for a walk around

The lincod and yellow eye Cod most say beats halibut hands down.  Our cod was just a pacific cod, the other party on the board got some yellow eye.

 

it was a great time, the boys had a blast

So after being on the road for 3 weeks i skipped out early and tried to get caught up on the mowing.  Oh what a mess, it has been raining like mad, water is squishing out of the ground and I am leaving ruts, but I knocked the ditches down and made it over to the in laws to do the ruff mowing (it needs mowing but it sure isn't grass)

Went in to work for a few hours, then came home and since it was sunny out we fired up Mabel and took the sickle mower to the ditches, then over the hill and mowed the peony patch

got things tidied up and the grass beat back just in time, it was a down pour by the time I was done.

After the showers let up trimmed a few branches and looked up, 

 

trees are rotting while still upright with all this rain

The core driller came today for my new shop site. old beat up rig, but after seeing hime pull between the trees and into close quarters I see why

He got set up in the trees and drilled 

 

A bit of rain, but he drilled 40 foot deep and took samples every 5 foot. every change he wrote notes
