AKwelder
After enjoying Troy's post so much over the last year I thought I would start an Alaskan post. Nothing much but some photos of Alaska as I raise my boys, work on my tractors and try to keep life's merry-go-round spinning

AKwelder
Today I was working on my 460, I picked it up just before winter set in and it needed some TLC. Yesterday I replaced the battery and changed to cables out with heavier ones. She fires right up now. So today I got out the manuals and read up on how to adjust the T/A. It's been getting stuck in gear until I pull back on the T/A and when I push in the clutch it would not free roll down a hill. After a little bit of scratching my head I think I got it. I can't get it to slip in low range, and it rolls on a hill when the clutch is in. So maybe I got it right Weather is calling for 6-12 inches of snow tonight so I may have some work for the tractor tommorrow.

Littlefeller
LOVE the idea!!!! I enjoy Troy's topic, and I think I will have to keep up on this one as well. I will probably never get there as well, but will be keeping a close eye on this one (as well as Troy's), and look forward to another topic about farm/work life in a "corner" that I am unfamiliar with. Thank you.

TomH
I'll get there some day, an Alaska trip is on the bucket list. A few years ago my Brother and his family took a trip to Anchorage and toured a number of places, said it was one of the best trips ever. The scenery is unbelievable, nature at her finest. They even went fishing,.... just for the halibut. Great post AK, keep the pictures coming!

hillskinefarms
The 460 on its way home this fall That is neat to see- we had the same loader on a Massey 165 years ago. I haven't seen one for ages. Keep the photos coming, I really enjoy them. I had the opportunity to go to Alaska in high school but didn't go. One of the few regrets I have. My social studies teacher went up every summer to pan for gold, and he would take a few students along. I wish I went when I had the chance. Probably still be there today......... MTO
My "can`t do without him" mechanic recently sold his property in Manly Hot Springs. It belonged to his uncle who passed. Had a gold dig on it which from what I understand is very common up there. You had to fly to Fairbanks and drive ALL day to get to it. Winter access he said was done by air only. caseySD
Alaska is on my wifes list of places to go. I wouldn't mind a hunting trip up there.
jingles1928
Went there on the motorcycles last year. Didn't get to far off the beaten path. Amazed at the vastness of the state. Fast Eddies at Tok had the best food on the trip, stayed there going in and again coming back out. Spent two days in Fairbanks and never met a stranger, I can understand why you stayed in that area. Didn't care for Anchorage though as it had that big city feel. Glenn Highway between Wassila and Glennallen was one of the most scenic roads on the whole trip. Be neat to see how things are off the beaten path. Keep it coming. Dennis
Cattech
Thought I seen one of the guys on here was in Eagle River, Alaska. Was going to ask if they'd run into that Youtube guy Corey Williams yet. I've been watching his channel since he started this current adventure, he's on day 73 or so of moving to AK from California. He'd never seen snow in his whole life Right now, it's still all kinda a joke to him, can't wait to see how him & his lady take -40F. Lot's of awesome scenery up there, hope to come up & get some riding in someday. You want to check out the youtube guy. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqEZdtqi4IlzmASqAjHGiHg Another question, I've always wanted to drive the Al-Can highway. But unfortunately, I have one of those whiskey tickets & heard you don't get across the border with one of those on your record, does anyone know the particulars to that law? You can get a "pardon" from Canada for a fee. It's online somewhere under Canadian counselate or some such

But I can pull out of my driveway, and be in elk river mn right next to CatTech in 80 hours. 3300 miles give or take.
