Could be the pump getting weak I guess. On real cold days the FEL rams will always work before the power steering will. I'm not sure, but are they supplied by different pumps ? I have no hydraulic issues during the rest of the year though. Do you keep your tractors in a shed or shop ?

with a little bit of warm up we seem to have no problems with hytran until below zero F, and that is to cold for no cab so its not a problem.

been awhile, life has been, well, life.  The kids are in school and winter is still trying to get here. I have been mostly in town with work and we have just been enjoying our quite, yet wonderful life.

I did end up with another truck. My unrelated uncle frank is moving to Anchorage, his house he rents is going to be tore down and a new house built, and he needed to liquidate some stuff. Well he had to 89 Ford 1 ton flatbeds. But here is the rub, three years ago they needed a bit of maintenance so one of the guys at morning coffee offers to do the work.  The guy was an idiot, he took them to jerry's shop (good guy i know) and by the time it was stopped he took one truck all the way apart.  I mean every bolt in the engine and dash. if i ever find the guy with any wrenches in his hand i will break his damn fingers, he destroyed a good F-350 (4X4) with a 12 foot steel deck and a 460 engine because the fuel pump was out in one tank.

Anyway, Frank asked me to take them, i said i would buy the complete one and store the other until i could assess the damages, but Jerry said that sone guy wanted to buy the other for the bed, he offered Frank $1500 for it.  Frank took it and I bought the other one,

So I am the proud owner of an ex-oilfield truck, 1989 F-350  cab and Chassis, 4x4, automatic (C6) with a 10 foot steel bed. I went last night and clean off the bed for towing it home.  That is when I spent an hour sorting thru the parts the idiot left out, he took all the bolts out of the alternator (and we don't know where they are) pressed all the wrist pins out, disassemble the heads, he has to be mentally unstable.

So I will know have another project, oh well

i got the best one, he sold the worst one to a guy who wanted the bed, sorry, venting and confusing

The one i picked up had the parts from the basket case stacked on the bed.  Mine is complete, but needs to be checked out before getting going

its a family thing, started out offering a parking spot, ended up buying a truck

Kids had a band thing right after school, so we took a quick minute to hit the golden tits of America for a bite to eat before hand, only in Alaska,

Life has been simple here, sorry for not posting much, but we have just been.  Kids go to school, we go to work, nothing to post

i did submit my eldest son for his first moose hunt drawings,  proud Father Time.

If if he is drawn we get to hunt two weeks before the season for a cow, and will have a big summer getting ready.  He will need to get his rifle sited, scout the hunt, set up a camp, and do a few recon trips

The steering is on the front pump, or mcv pump. So yes they are separate. We keep the tractor in the shop if there's room but usually we got things in there to fix so most of the time they're outside.  The last couple years we never put the tractor in the shop unless to work on it. And the steering is just as quick whether it's in the shop or not.

6 inches of snow, lets fire up the 460 and away we go.   Plowed out the driveway, the road in front of the house, (if you let those contract grader operators do it they tear everything up), and off to the in laws, ended up running right at 3 hours of seat time

great day, and the plane takes off on Tuesday night, off to Florida with stops in both directions in Minnesota for family, Christmas, and another surgery for my oldest boy.

When I get back we had a very sudden deceleration with the blade and a bracket popped.  Well, I made the blade and posted a few pictures quit a few pages back, I pull back in the yard and stop to see the damage, my wonderful wife comes over, assess the damage and says "Weld failure?  Huh.   You should beat the welder who did that!"

Got much snow yet? Only a couple inches here now. Not enough to really tempt me yet again. Surely I'll have better sledding in Jan then Oct. least that's what I keep telling myself lol.

Have a safe trip and a merry Christmas.

Not much snow, maybe a fluffy foot, nothing I would take my sled out in anyways. Here or the mountains

My son was running his mini around the yard, came walking back and said something went bad, he must have hit something because the skis are pointing different ways.

Boys did he, it had popped the ball joint off the steering and the one ski was point to the back and flopping.  We fixed it and he rode more.  But that was in the yard
