You got that right! Saw one fully mounted 3 bottom that was winged the wrong direction, front bottom barely scratching the dirt, rear about 10" deep.

Todd and everyone, thanks for posting all those pictures! I took a bunch but don't think I have anything that isn't on here already. Working on videos that will dribble out.....

Thought of something I don't think anyone has posted. A 10 bottom Oliver plow, a 448, maybe? Supposed to be on auction this fall in Indiana. Buyer beware, wear parts are shot!

Made it home a few minutes ago ago around a 2500 mile trip from Sunday to Sunday. We had a great time I will definitely be back to one of the shows in the future. Todd thanks for the pictures and the hospitality it was nice meeting you again and if you or family is in western Mass give us a shout or let us know if you need anything thank you so much for the offer of help if we needed it. This is the community that makes this great thank you. Pete nice to meet you and glad to talk to you about my dyno and getting everything in top running order

Now to wash the 10 million bugs off the front of the girlfriend’s buggy. Wasn’t bad around 26-27 mpg with 4 of us comfortably and all of out stuff but no weights coming home this trip if I’d had found a set of IH frame weight I had already talked about putting them on the floor between the two rear seats maybe next trip

  My one neighbor worked for White during the 1970's and a fair part of the 1980's.  No longer with us but he would be smiling down at that plow.  It would be an interesting acquisition as I am sure there are few others around that big.

Unless I'm not seeing it correctly that would be a steering mess compared to the IH designed 800 flex frame plow with just casters on both ends . I just used ours Friday . I slobbered the paint on the bottoms because we don't use it very often I didn't trust just Grease.

I worked for a guy with vac truck/spreader tanks.  We cleaned a municipal sewage lagoon system in high NV.  We spread right on the sage brush. We thought it was crazy!  Just spreading sludge in the desert.  Anyway a very seasoned gentleman on a very seasoned D4 or D6 open station was pulling a 14' single gang disc plow.  Twin to that setup you guys seen.  It was 90 to 100* he had tee shirt, denim shirt, and wrangler jeans on sitting on that ol cat 12hr a day.  It worked perfectly for that job, incorporated in the poo and cut down the sage brush and bunch grass etc.  We didnt need to turn over soil but a disc wouldn't of got though that sage and bunch.  I kinda recall him saying plow plowing would of turned it to flour since would of dried out do bad.  Then dust storms/erosion would been a problem.

A modern big offset would replace it today.

The frame is bolted together after the number 6 bottom. My guess is that it could have been had as a 6-7-8-9-10-? bottom plow.

I have an old Deere on land hitch plow that steers on both ends. You are correct that it doesn’t really work that good. I know later Deere just had caster wheels as well.

Dad had a White 8 bottom plow almost identical to that Oliver. It had a heavier axle for the land wheel. Was a great plow, didn’t have the spring resets.

Last time that I went there, one of the guys we talked to said that by the time you made a pass or two with the plow, the field was totally worked due to everyone else plowing too.  So adjusting to get it right probably isn;t going to happen there.  Those plots are alos pretty compacted and various plow pan depths.  You might have a 5 bottom 16inch but the guy before you has a DMI var-width 20 inch, and the guy behind you may have a 6 bottom 18 inch.     So those plows might be set right for the operator's own farm but for a place like that, you may not be set correct for the whole show.

Anytime you are following a different rig every pass it makes adjustment difficult. But, you can be 'in the ballpark' so to speak.

I’ve gotta be honest, I missed so many of these tractors! We got there Wednesday evening to unload and didn’t spend much time looking that night. Thursday morning my parents were on the tractor ride so my boys and I roamed a bit and watched some harvesting. Friday we spent a large chunk of the day lined up for and going through the parade. I won’t say it was a waste of time, but it definitely took time that could have been used elsewhere! And Saturday we spent time looking through the tents, then were loading up by just after noon. I will be back, probably in two years, and will hopefully bring something to sink in the dirt!!

Any details on the anvil and picture display? Looks like it's possibly FEREC Hinsdale but it could easily be a picture of a dog and pony at the IH Broadview IL sales / transfer facility. Long gone now like most everything else but Broadview was 26 acres under a roof with a rail spur that ran inside the building.

It was another great adventure at HCOP.  I spend most of my time out in the field demonstration area with the tractor and plow.  I feel fortunate every time to see old friends like sledgehammer and also get to put faces with names from people on this forum or other places on the internet that I feel like I have known for years!  I plow with my 1466 and the guy on the 1170 Case is a friend that I tractor pull with.  We hang out together and watch the pulls at night while we are down there.  
  Couple things, people are so negative about the SxS’s and golf carts but in reality it just isn’t an issue.  Everyone goes slow and are very courteous.  Yes they crowd the field demonstrations but it’s a huge part of the draw to this show to be able to get right in the field with these classic machines.

Another common misconception is that we don’t really do much plowing.  That’s wrong.  Some days we do sit a lot and don’t do as much plowing as we want.  This Saturday and Sunday we had 3 nice sessions of plowing.  We plowed for over 3 hours making pass after pass Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning we plowed a field both directions! 

This is not a place to set a plow.  It’s not easy plowing.  Lots of tough green stalks even after shredding and or disking.  You need to be on your A game before you get down there.  Just no time to make a lot of adjustments and you need to be able to deal with some adverse situations which arise from following a poor plowing pass in front of you.

  HCOP is amazing.  Will be back in 2027.  I will attach a few pics friends took while I was there.
