IH 80 snowblower

Bought one for use on the 560 this winter when we get that 10 feet of snow they say we will get here! LOL!! Anyway I been needing a bigger unit for a long time. This one still has the paint on the cutting edge and fan blades, so was never used much or hard.

Hook it up and see how fast the chute swings at PTO speed. If it moves really fast, do yourself a big favor and put a restrictive fitting in one of the ports of the cylinder to slow it down.  It's really easy to forget which way it turns, and when the wind changes and you happen to spin it the wrong way, you instantly become frosty the snowman!

Ya got an ABBOT BROS. 3 pt for my 560. Had it on the other 560 til the motor went south on me.

I more than likely wont run wide open with it,--- never had to with my walk behinds. Just fast enough to get the snow up and out without putting it in the neighbors yard a half mile away. 

I never used one on a tractor before so like with the batwing mower, --- a slight learning process here!

with the dual augers that #80 weighs  910# . I am curious if the 560 will be a touch light on the frontend? probably not but if you hook it up let us know. 

I sold my #80 which was exactly the same as yours with the hydraulic chute and dual auger because I never used it and I also have a #70 with hyd. chute and dual auger option if I need one

A few years ago I would have killed for one of these instead of having to use a 10 hp Yard Machines walk behind and a shovel to knock down 6' deep drifts in our drive!

We are about in for a bad winter again and I want something that will do the job!

I carried 2,200 pound round hay bales with the old 560 down the road and out into the feedlot with it so this thing will be a piece of cake for it to run!

My neighbor has one on a 756 & it's all it has to keep it turning.

I was going to say all that but once he gets through one pass he will be taking a partial swath and riding the clutch alot. No partial throttle for the old D282 . The brochure shows a #80 on a 2 plus 2

He will be ok. I live just close to him, same county, it hasn't snowed enough here to need all of that blower since the 1980's. I hope he hooks it up though. That way we will get not much snow lol at least that's what happens when I get mine ready.

I use my 80 quite a bit.  Dang good unit.  It will handle more snow than the 560 will!

I have an IH 80 on my Hydro 70. Only used it once so far but it worked great! The D312, about 70 hp, will bog down some in heavy snow but with the hydro it's just a matter of pushing ahead on the speed ratio lever a little. Not sure how it will do on a 560. Might be riding the clutch a little on the initial pass, but then just take a partial swath and you will be fine. A hydro is the perfect tractor for a snowblower.

That is probably the nicest Model 80 I have seen.  Most appearing for sale in northern Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota show considerably more wear and abuse.

The 560 will be  fine for my use, --- besides its either it or the 2444 industrial! -- thats all I got cept the AC440's and neither of them have a pto. Well I do have a 340 and then there is the 240, then come the cub! LOL!! Seriously tho, the 560 will be fine for my use. Drive not long or wide so its not like I will be doing the whole county with it. 

I may NEVER get to use it!

I thought that the 656D had the world's slowest reverse... until I put the #80 blower on the back! haha. It handles it just fine though.

I tried my #70 once on a 504u gas. It wasn't a good fit at all. not enough hp in not much snow and it was light on the frontend. 

 If I ever need it again I would put it on my 1850

A friend of mine has a snowblower on his 656. He says the front end gets pretty light. No loader on his 656. My Hydro 70 with the loader has no problem handling it. The 656 isn't much different weight wise than my Hydro 70. I'm guessing to 560 is close to the same weight too.

ole 560 has good brakes, so steer with them if need be! AND NO hydro's for me! they junk!! To much to go south in them! Heard all kinds of horror stories about hydro stuff.! lol. GOTTA have my clutch peddle !

Agreed. I wouldn't want anything but a hydro for snowblowing unless we never got more than 4 inches at a time with no wind. I've had my hydro for over 20 years and wouldn't be without it.

Hello Friends, I’ve come to live on a 100 acre farm in Uxbridge, ON. Canada. The IH 80 that came with the  farm has a single bottom auger and operates well however the 3 blade chute fan is missing. Anyone have the part number for it or any idea where I can purchase a used or new one? I have a 1/2 mile lane and it’s Oct 29th. Need I say anymore  🤣
