IH 80 snowblower

I would look for a different blower. I have a #80 blower and they are good but there are many out there just as good. In my opinion not worth the time and money looking for a used fan or fabricating one. 3pt blowers are a dime a dozen and sell pretty cheap usually

Snowblowers are not a hot seller here 5 or 600 will get him a blower 

 

I wish I could find some of those $5-600 snowblowers in my area! The cheapest one I found listed for sale in ND right now is $1,800, with several in the $2,000-$3,000 range.

we don't get much snow anymore. I got one you can have for 600 and I will throw in a set of 18.4 x 34 chains. normally I wouldn't buy a snowblower but it came with a lot of other equipment. I see them listed for $1000 and up but they don't sell quickly A mint #80 is getting expensive but I think that's the collectable aspect of it because shortline ones just as good are cheaper get into someone's shed where a blower has been sitting 15 years and you can find a deal

I would buy that blower in a heartbeat!
 I’ve been using a number 80 since December 1979. 
 It was $1800 new. 
 Started off on a 656 then 966.
 I had a 3588 on it for about a month while the 966 was getting a clutch.
 Then it went on a 7120 for three years and then 7220 for five years.
 After that, it went on a MX 100 until about 2013 when I put it on my Hydro 186. 
 The Hydro is by far the best tractor for that blower.
That snowblower has moved a lot of snow in the past 45 winters!

if you buy it I got a buddy lined up to haul it on one his loads to Ottawa area if you could meet him and you are not in a hurry. That would require me to pick it up but it is doable If you get serious I can give you his cell and get a very reasonable price

I have had a 80 blower for 25+ years. Think I paid 1000 at dealer for it at the time. It has been all repainted about 10 years go since this picture was taken. Think I have used it 3 or 4 times since. It sits in the back corner of the shop if needed. Have a 5' Farm King blower as well but 99% of the snow gets moved with V plow on pickup. But occasionally only a blower will work.

 But after looking at the auction listing, there’s a few other things that I am very interested in!
 I might even fill up my 53 foot step deck!
If the deals are good, and I have enough money! Lol

Could have used mine once last year but it would have taken at least an hour to get out out behind tractors that don't run

We leave ours hooked on and just inside the doors. Some years it never comes out, but it’s gotta be ready.  I put 10w oil. in that 1066 for winter, drain it back out and put it back in a jug in the spring.  It got 4 hours last year.  .5hr the year before.    I should reuse it again this year.

Putting the tire chains on and never using them. Same idea

  90 percent of them have a 10/10 guarantee meaning they might run 10 minutes or last 10 years.  Also, a picture does not give the full story and is done to the benefit of the seller.  Don't see the rusty spot ready to break out or the gear box that has a heavy tick.  There will be several several hundred dollar snowblowers at the next local consignment auction none of which I would trust to run any length of time.  The poster in question already has a blower which might be gotten usable with a minimum of expense.  He should be able to determine if his gear box is good or no good.  Plenty of people here to offer advice.  As far as IH projects goes this might be one of the cheaper of the ones out there.  I spent several hundred dollars to resurrect dad's old 37 disk this past fall but it is the one I grew up with.  I see people spend more than that on plows and balers and forage harvesters.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this is a site dedicated to IH products or so I am told.

  For giggles I looked up new and a Frontier 84 inch two stage blower is 7,257 US dollars presumably before freight and set up.  All depends on one's budget and priorities.  Some places all heck would break loose if the driveway was not cleaned and the wife was giving birth.

any used (esp 40 -50 year old) snowblower is 10/10......to wrap up our convo I will add You are right and I am stupid🤣🤣if that makes you go away its worth it 🤣

 

@Burgess Jr if you are on Facebook theres one for $1000 with double auger AND the fan is out of it already. I would be suspicious of any blower that needs a fan and question why this one is removed. That said its a good deal and lots of parts for you includes fan

  From what I see 1 out of every 10 is in pretty good condition.  Something that grandpa bought new and put in the shed a couple years before he passed for example.

  The fan is out of this 1,000 dollar snowblower meaning it is not with it?   I don't know what is so hard about assessing the viability of what he has.  The housing is true meaning free of bends and breaks and the gearbox shaft turns freely and without twists or resistance or not.  Probably the last owner caught something in the fan such as a steel stake and nothing more.

The first and third ones look like good deals, pretty cheap. The others look like they are worth about what they're listed at. Single augers, manual chute rotates, and no paint on the one. But yeah, $1,000 CAD for those 2 would be about 1/2 or less than what they would bring here.
