My son on the afternoon of the opening day here in PA.  This came from the direction of the public land next door.  There were 19 other deer out in the field when this one showed which that many is just nuts for us.

I wish I had a group of pictures to post by now but I don't. I will only shoot one buck that I had seen 6 times during archery season. I've had one of the best years hunting ever in reality but I messed up a 12 yard shot 3 weeks ago in archery (hit too low we believe he is still walking yet). I've been hunting everyday morning and night hoping to get a redemption shot during rifle season. 7 days to go yet . I saw what I thought was a bobcat that had a really long tail on the way to the stand tonight. It was much bigger than any domestic cat I have ever seen. Here is a short video of it . Sorry it's grainy because we zoomed in a zoom. It was 150 yards when I started filming it

This is the buck I hit in archery right after I shot .

I can't hold my phone still enough when I get excited.

I would guess if no one found it your deer is still alive. I believe someone hit the deer my son got with a bow.  It was pretty much scabbed over and any puss was superficial.  I hate to see one suffer but them seem like they are tough animals.  Pretty neat to see the Bobcat.  Nothing like that here.

I've seen close to a bobcat per year in the last 36 years living here . Saw my first the third day of buck season fall of 89 . A momma and three kits walk by me in the snow. That was the most I saw in a group. Saw two a few times

Bobcats are petty thick here. They didn't exist here 20yrs ago. I've seen as many as 3 at a time. Still lots of coyotes also. Used to see more than we do now. I've seen as many as 8 of them at the same time in the daylight.

Our second weekend of gun season is going on now. After getting a deer first season I have still been going but am looking for an older cull buck. On our property we feel like there are too many bucks and the buck to doe ratio is heavy on the bucks so I will try and take out something old or with no future to help the gene pool some.

I thought Bobcats had short tails?

Buddy got a bull elk a couple years ago and there was a broadhead lodged up to vertebrae in his spine from previous, couldn't tell externally and didn't hamper normal movements

Normally 5-6" probably on a bobcat. Looks like a little tuft when they are all furred up for winter. image.thumb.jpeg.19cb218b6fc63239fde597db717daa40.jpeg

They do have short tails. We have no mountain lions here according to the game commission. I really don't know what I saw last night. Markings were similar to a bobcat, tail was similar to a mountain lion. The tail just about rubbed the ground everywhere it walked. Looked way too big to be a domestic or feral cat I think

This big boy is in the area as we speak. Dressed, that would be a 220lb.+ whitetail.

Juvenile mountain lion. Still has the spots like a bobcat, but with the long tail. We don't have them either regardless of all the sightings.

AND if that’s the case, Mom is not to far away!

You've given me an idea. Next time someone tells me we don't have any mountain lions around here, I'm going to ask if we have any of them long tailed bobcats😺

Saturday was our last day of rifle. This was harvested a mile from my place. I found the right side shed last spring planting beans. The left side lost size this year by the looks. Still a very nice buck in my state.

Nice deer.

We scored mine from this year yesterday. It grossed 158-6/8". The best scoring deer I've ever shot. 15 scorable points, 18-3/8" wide.
