Sledgehammer Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 A weird one first. Those are otters. There isn't a river within 5 miles and no significant ponds or lakes nearby. Must be rare upland otters.... This one looks posed but obviously was not. 6 Quote
nepoweshiekfarmalls Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 I don't need a trail cam to scout for deer. All I need to do is look out my porch window in the morning!!! 3 Quote

I ordered a dozen from the company (Lake View Iowa based company) and they came first of this week. Split them with a buddy for when season comes in. 3 Quote

bitty Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 I've only gotten frostbite so far but here the few we got so far. My brother and my cousin got so far. I saw 17+ tonight but only a few small bucks with them so far. My one son saw a few bucks but wasn't offered a good shot opportunity, other one saw 23+ deer just going out last hour of today. We have to thin out some doe this year. First time since about 10 years ago we are getting out of hand again 5 Quote

bitty Posted October 25, 2025 Posted October 25, 2025 My sight seeing of the shooter I've been after has dried up. I had been seeing lots of small ones, very few does where I was compared to buck until the rut started . If I'm lucky enough yet to harvest him he might be one of the best I've gotten. Unfortunately I have had lots of time to hunt lately as the last two days in the combine after beans is waiting for dry weather. 3 Quote

Neighbor lady got this one yesterday about a mile away from me. Big 8 point for around here maybe low 140's 3 Quote

We had crazy wind that was about it. The deer are starting their late fall and winter habits here. Seen around 15 of them with the skid loader headlights tonight. Quote

We got a little snow Monday and Tuesday the bigger day. It was melting today. Only patches of snow left although they are calling for a little bit almost anytime. Where I sat is very high goldenrod and very difficult to see deer in half of it or more . I took my wife to get blood drawn this morning and we saw 5 immature and 2 mature eagles on a roadkill raccoon. I didn't get any good footage of them. It would have been neat to sit a little bit away from the raccoon and try and wait to film them. 2 Quote
Sledgehammer Posted November 13, 2025 Posted November 13, 2025 I've been out some for bow season. Had a target deer at 25yds the other night but the brush was too thick to shoot. Seems like the bucks are locked down with does now and the good ones are in the thick stuff and won't come out. That's normal around here. Still fun to get out there. This was the deer I couldn't get a shot at. Maybe next time. 6 Quote
