It’s just a ploy by the petroleum companies to make money off the fear factor. There’s no oil going through the Straits of Hormuz. That’s 20% of the world’s oil supply. That’s a significant decline on the supply side. It’s a global market for oil and refined fuels. The oil and fuel made in the US becomes more valuable because people around the world want and need it and will pay for it. Just basic supply and demand principles doing what they do. 1 Quote

It was heading that way until other nations started releasing some of their reserves into the market and sanctions lifted on Russian oil. They’re betting on a resolution or end to what’s going on in Iran sooner than later. There are still major disruptions in the supply side of the oil market. If diesel prices today were to drop to their price of two weeks ago you know everyone that was able would buy as much as they could store which would then cause shortages. We can have high prices with basically enough supply or low prices with shortages which then leads to even higher extortion level pricing. Quote
Farmall 1466 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 5 bucks a gallon?!?!?! Over here in the Netherlands, the cheapest pump I could find charged 2.26 euros per liter of diesel. Converting to bucks a gallon, it works out to be exactly 10 bucks a gallon. You'll be fine over there... 2 Quote

The issue, as I read yesterday, is no materials for plastic going through Hormuz. The ships can't get insurance. Watch for the cost/availability of plastic to be a bigger issue than fuel. Quote
Jacka Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Its all BS.The oil companies, world governments and our government is just taking more from those of us that WORK.Its a shame that its come to greed over your own people. Does anyone on here really think that the people on welfare really are affected at all?The ones that get free or subsidized housing, free health care,EBTcard for well enough food to exist on,cash assistance so they don't feel "marginalized".Free smart cellphones with ZERO monthly bills all paid for by our monthly "connect ability fee" and the black opps "voice mail' charge on your land lines (its used only for subsiding free welfare phones,I know I called to get it dropped and was told I couldn't).It makes me sick. The welfare bums and billionaires aren't affected at all and living life large 1 1 Quote

Basically what I also "heard" +- 20 MBD deficit And 8-14 MBD CAN currently be (ramp up)extracted thru "other" routes. With slight increase in costs ,BUT WELL below the risk "surcharge". With +- 5 MBD to be open tap from other fields. So kick in gear today ...less than 3 week ripple. On 60-90 day PRE pay. Prices went up "illegally" (pocket stuff $$) within 8 hrs,and will take 90-180 days to go back to par. 1 Quote
Lazy WP Posted March 12 Author Posted March 12 I find it interesting that diesel is $2.10 higher than gasoline. It’s also interesting that a number of local stations are nearly the same price for clear or dyed diesel, AND people will pay it! 1 Quote
cobfly Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Not here. Diesel $3.90, gas $3.25. Course that was yesterday. Truck stops are the ones gouging on diesel because they can. Tractor/trailer friendly. 1 Quote

Heating oil from the supplier we use: 5.79 a gallon and off road is 5.29. I don’t think I have ever paid more for off road than on road and why is heating oil so high? Same darn stuff! 1 Quote
