Looking at getting some new 10.00-16 fronts for our 7740 does anyone have a favorite at this point in time? I always used firestone before but I believe that they are the Regency name now and kind of wonder if they still have the same quality.

Our tire dealer has been suggesting Carlisle mainly as one of the better ones available

Good tractor fronts are getting hard to find. The Firestone Regency are made offshore, pretty sure. No idea on actual quality. Carlisle was bought by Maury Tailor, same guy that owns Titan/Good year ag. I had been buying quite a few Carlisle's until that happened..... They say 'Carlstar' post merger.

Last summer I needed a pair of 10.00x16's for the 756 Diesel, tire guy I use told me about the above and sold me a pair of MRL's. At least I think that's what they are? He says they are good, time will tell. He's in his early 80's now, been selling tires a loooooooooong time, I respect his opinion.

Just put bkt 4 rib on the 1086.

Have 4 rib Samsons on my 5088 as that’s what local tire shop had. Not good. Tractor spends most of it’s life under cover and they started cracking within the first year, and have continued to get worse

Firestones are no more???

They are still making rears in Des Moines. How much longer that will last I do not know. I like to be proactive on the tire front. They seem to be like concrete and buildings, they never get cheaper!

Another industry where you pay multiples times more for an inferior product, between inflation and shrinkflation and just crappy products the Ole butthole is getting sore😳

Firestone seems to have disappeared from the bias ply/implement tire business. Have tried a few of the Regency line tires only to discover they are made in India. When looking at them I really see no advantage over a galaxy or BKT. They don’t eve say Firestone on them anywhere. They will probably say market size of people willing to pay more for a Firestone vs cost to produce don’t line up for them but I think there would still be a good market for traction field and roads and three rib front tires. Haven’t made 18.4x38 traction field for 20+years but have seen people go great distances and pay real good money for an average condition used pair. I often thought a one time run of traction field and roads advertised or branded as “legacy” tires would be a hit. Even if they weren’t a huge money maker it would if anything show that they care about brand loyalty or show that they are still interested in the ag tire business. But big corporations aren’t run like small businesses and the old tire molds probably got scrapped.

Thank you. So far outside of a couple of small electrical gremlins I really like this tractor.
