Pocket Multi-tool, made in Germany.

A guy gave me this, said it had been his grandfather’s, but he didn’t know much more. He’s a funny fellow, if he doesn’t have a use for something it’s gone. He was going to toss it otherwise. Does anyone have any information about it?

It may be missing? You wouldn’t fit much more in this. Maybe it was sold with fine print “toothpick not included”. For the hammer I think you just hold the screwdriver shaft.

I believe it to be a Mauser tool kit which would have been part of the rifle kit, probably WW2 era but possibly WW1, for sure mauser kit though.

I’ve been looking, I found one picture with that info you gave, but not much else. Do you think it would have been made by Mauser or some other supplier?

Whatever it is, it was made for export to an English speaking country.

Germany is English for Deutschland (in German).

That I am not sure, I just know where at least one more is with NIB 98 mauser

This one came from my uncle who was in paratrooper training for the WWII Japan invasion until they surrendered. I always assumed it was part of his “kit”, but the Germany stamping now makes me think otherwise.  What would be the usage of the smaller pointed auger?  Brian

Yes VT, the second one. It looks like yours has 2. Are they the same size?  If two sizes, maybe something to do with gun cleaning?

Possibly to hold a patch for cleaning a part of the action?  I can't imagine it is long enough to clean the breach end of the barrel.

I have seen a lot of pre war German manufactured items in America. We have an old power plant here from the 20s-30s, with many valves that have a swastika cast into the body.  If it was made during the war , it was made by any of several countries, with a gun to there head.

I think the smaller auger is a “screw starter”.
