acem Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 I bought a new high efficiency blower for my 886. The old one released the magic smoke. It's significantly different than the original but seems to work good. Two separate motors/fans. Smaller wires. Separate ground. Says made in Italy. Impressive since everything seems to be made in China anymore. Had to swap the red and yellow wires compared to the original. I haven't used it other than to turn it on to test it. Any experiences/opinions? Thx-Ace 1 Quote
stronger800 Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 I know nothing of those “new” “modern” tractors…,was the original the same as what my 66’s have? (Single motor, shaft out each side to a squirrel cage, red, yellow, orange and a ground? Quote
acem Posted January 27, 2024 Author Posted January 27, 2024 I think the motor and wires are the same but the housing is different. Quote
Doezer Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 Got two of them. One in our hydro 186 and one in a 986. Both work well and are quieter than the originals. Had to swap the red and yellow wires on one of them for sure. Can’t remember on the other. Once in a while the one in the hydro will have a faint squeak on start up but goes away. Been happy with them. 1 Quote

1967806 Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 Put one in our 5288 along with the high efficiency condenser. Blower can run on high now and not make much noise. New condenser lower the high PSI quite a bit. They make a high efficiency evaporator too and would like to try one of them as well. Got all the parts from AP Air for mine. 1 Quote
oleman Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 I am not familiar with tractor special blowers but do know about marine in-line bilge blowers. I recently added a rule brand model 240, 4" in-line bilge blower in our rv project as a general ventilation blower so as to vent down via the floor boards. Made in China, but this company has an online catalog full of similar pumps and blowers and they have been in the marine electric motor business for many years. This blower fits inline in a 4" diameter flexible tube @ 235 CFM draws about 8 amps on 12 vdc. Does not run hot in use. The model we are using mounts with 2 screws positions and then run the hose to where ever you require. Ours has to be bolted down, connected without mounts and the air volume is sufficient to have it jet across the floor. Quote

So much for finding out now and having more time in the summer to fix!! Quote

Put in new fan, wiring might be slightly different but I didn't have to do any modifications. I got mine from Triplertractors.com 1 Quote
IHC_1470 Posted September 10, 2025 Posted September 10, 2025 I had one in the 3588. Was not impressed as it had little air flow. Went back to the single motor double shaft. Also seemed to draw more amps especially on high. 1 Quote
TeachersPet1066 Posted September 13, 2025 Posted September 13, 2025 Got a look at our today. It is still running but slow. On low will barely move, on high it does spin (I thought dad had it on low but when I got in cab this was the high setting) and purge worked but it does sound bad inside the cab. Quote
HydroTek Posted September 13, 2025 Posted September 13, 2025 5 bolts if I remember right and that whole fan unit will lift out of there . The bearings on the fan motor wear out and cause the motor armature to drag -- slows the motor down 2 Quote

Have 2 of them, but sometimes they seem like something is blocking air flow, yesterday on the 186 just turning it off and on again made it work perfect, but the 1486 would barely put any air out the vents, been racking my brain trying to figure out what would block airflow, because it is shut off almost completely. Is it possible the motors could run backwards? Quote
HydroTek Posted September 16, 2025 Posted September 16, 2025 If the motor is electronically controlled rather than the old style brush system then yes it is possible Quote
IHC_1470 Posted September 16, 2025 Posted September 16, 2025 I have not taken the time to look at it since I pulled it back out. At the time I could see they were turning the correct dirrection. It is an interesting idea, just does not seem to live up to the claim of 30 per cent more air flow. To draw more amps did not impress me much either. Quote

How do I fix it, or is it even possible Quote
