poor farmer/logger Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 How’s the fire season been up there? Getting any moisture at all? Fire ban in effect here again in the forests and parks. Been a lot of fires start up in the north here the last week due to lightning. Terribly dry here at the farm. Quote

This all happened within 10 miles of me and I find it hard to believe that there are two dozers exactly alike. So what's wrong with it? Hmmm 1 Quote

just Dave Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 My IH 150B trackloader was a (good deal) 25 years ago and until recently served me well. It burns a quart of Rotella and 2 gallon of fuel each hour, seems good for a machine 60 years old. Steer clutch and brake being overhauled now. You will want to be prepared for work on it but you just might get to work with it for quite awhile first. Just going through all the lube chart is harder than swapping motors in an old pickup! AKwelder Posted August 27, 2021 Author Posted August 27, 2021 Well, some of you might remember we were growing peonies for selling cut flowers, deal was they bloom here late enough for the June wedding season and they were selling to the lower 48. we quit harvesting a couple years ago and we’re only maintaining our plants, they are really huge now. Well a year ago the Coop closed, which was not a surprise since it had some very serious management challenges today the growers association made it official the price for each stem has fallen to 1/5 or less and the shipping costs have increased a lot. When the price hit half we quit harvesting and just waited, when it fell further we pulled out. Guess we can pot the plants and sell them at the farmers market. We did have a good time, figured some things out, and did not risk anything unrecoverable. Life goes on 2 Quote

Life goes on ...like so many little''cottage industries '' down under.....Things go well, after a sometimes, steep learning curve, then circumstances way beyond one's ability, to control...change....and things go 'south' This bloody ''flu'' has done so much damage also...again the ''little guys'' become the casualties..... Our Peonies just pop up in one of our small paddocks, now.....unattended, but make a brief splash of colour...then disappear..... Does make you wonder , though............ We had Hydrangeas as well...... same old story.....horrendous air frieght price increase.....We dug them up and planted them on either side of our "drive' ..off the gravel road......beautiful , at least that looks nice for quite a few weeks..... At least there is no wind Colder weather is coming here now they say. Been a fairly warm winter so far. Maybe get the lakes and rivers to freeze down a little better. Been 3 people die now out on sleds pushing their luck this year. Quote
