Over a foot of snow, powers out, and I have the Honda suitcase powering the pellet stove. Thank goodness for gas stoves or there would not be coffee

Im about 50 miles south of fairbanks and we still have power. Hwy is covered about a ft. Boss called and told me to stay put..put i will. Gonna start moving snow when the sun comes up.

Welp, broke the back blade on the 460.  Again.

I broke mine last year. Still ain't got it welded up. I'm hoping I won't need it. LOL Hopefully yours don/t need to much work.

If it makes you feel better  I broke my little blade yesterday...cracked the hose fitting on the power angle cylinder...

Bummer. Its that time of year.. one car in the shop, the well pump decided to start leaking....and i have a 15lb prime rib to roast!..

Oh and dont forget the 3ft berm the plow truck left at the end of my driveway! Lol

It was 30+ year old water pipe...I broke the housing attempting to remove the pipe.

Well pipe fixed! It pays to be a hoarder...have a pipe nipple stash left to me from the old timer that built this cabin.

I was thinking about the fun in the snow post and i remember having a LOT of goof time...but i sure am glad i paid attention to the older folks growing up. 

I have a crew at work of mostly 20 somethings...they are good kids but lack in being able to fend for themselves. As an example while having a bbq my wife discovered one of them had no idea what a can opener is...like the handled type. He said he had never used one. She asked if he ever ate canned food, his reply was yes but his mom always made it....

That's sad. I've learned lots just from watching others. Simple things like operating a can opener should be learned by the time you're two from watching your mom. I guess if mom lets you play with her phone you won't learn anything except how to play with a phone.

Got the blade repaired, or thought I did.  Found it had cracked on some box tubing.  More to come

Ice can rip steel open when you corner it in a box. I pulled the rear sheet metal off my loader this Summer for clutch work. When I pulled a bolt from the left loader frame tower I got about a pint of water. That would of bit me in the rear this Winter. I welded crack and added a drain hole.

Not very fun, I was thinking I would leave the snow until tomorrow so the rain doesn’t soak the hard pack.  Then I would have to deal with it for the rest of the year.

 

my brother had to go out, he said the roads are not very good, no plows yet

That's devastating to game as it cuts up their legs for the rest of winter really hard on deer population and thinner skinned game

Well, we lost power about 3pm Sunday. More snow, and then 8 hours of rain. Started plowing here at the house Monday, dealt with several equipment issues, and got our place open.  Set an alarm for every 5 hours to refill the generator.  Didn’t have enough power to run the well.  The town was in rough shape, roads are pretty bad and they are not getting them open yet.

got power about 10 on Tuesday morning.  Got everything returned  to utility power.  Went out and and plowed out my Father In Law and the brother in laws.  It was snowing pretty good by the time I made it home.  
 

got up to maybe 10 inches this morning, and rain forecast.  Pretty ugly out there.  Neighbor called, he plowed his driveway Sunday before the rain,  it’s a skating rink. He was stuck and his kid was in the ditch down the hill.   Got them out.  Now to start digging out all over, on ice

 

hope the rest of the guys here in state are doing well. I would guess @Twolines is out of power for a few more days, and we will hear from him later. At the height of the outages about 1/4 of the interior of the state was out of power, did we make CNN?

 

reports are in from Delta Junction that the roof on the grocery store collapsed, the roads are maybe one lane and not passable between here and there
