This would have been when the shop was "downtown" on 300 N. Johnson St??? Andy Anderson was REAL close with some well placed guys at IH and had access to lots of IH stuff others dealers didn't. He had a public showing of the new 460-560 tractors in June of 1958 and IH dealers saw them in August/September of 1958. Andy also got LOTS of low serial number stuff from IH and Hinsdale. I can personally trace several "501" tractors that came from there. The first IH 1468 V-8 made (#7101) is coming up on auction this Fall and it has an A. A. Anderson decal on it. It stayed local to the area its whole life so far. A.A. Anderson is no longer around...it was bought by the dealer I work for, Johnson Tractor a few years ago. There is a NO OLD IH stuff there. Alot of it went away when Andersons moved to a new location in the 1980's? that was eventually bought by Motorola (to make cell phones...but it never took off) and they were GIVEN a new place to move to that is their current location. He had bull gear troubles and always agreed he should have bought the 560. The H transmission/rear end was just to light. The 460 went down the road for a new 826 gear drive with cab and a 5-16 510 plow. Quote

The 'new' place looked like a ghost town the last time I drove past it. I think Johnson's only has Kubota on that lot (and it is a pretty good sized lot). Shame really. Great Grandpa on my Grandma's side of the family had one with a 2001 loader on it. We had it for a little bit after he quit farming, then we sold to my Dad's cousin. My fil still talks about running a nearly new 460 diesel for one of my uncles when he was a young hired hand. Used to cultivate with it in the morning and take the cultivator off at noon for hay making every day. Uncles family had an alfalfa dehydrating business at that time and so made a lot of hay. Neighbors had a gasser I looked at and thought about buying years ago. I passed on it. Quote

He operated out of the massive IH Broadview IL sales / transfer facility, which encompassed some 26 acres under roof with a rail spur on the East side of the building. Quote
