  That intercooler didnt appear until the 4386 tractor was introduced.  Very unlikely it was on there in 1971.

Our 4366 has one. I don't know when it was put on but it's staying where it's at

So the intercooler will stay.  Been working on 7103 the last couple days with the cold weather.  Replaced the alternator, fan belt, thermostat, hoses.  Removed the tank type block heater and installed a new frost plug heater.  Just generally cleaned up some odds and ends stuff.  Removed the platform, it’s been torched!  
When we took the hoods off I found the worst wiring hack job I have ever run across.  Literally nothing hooked up.  All cut off.  All of it!  New wiring harnesses are on the way!  Lots of odds and ends.  Fixed the ether injector.  The line was gone.  I decided to pull the orfice out of the cross over pipe and found a wood screw jammed into it.  I just laughed.  Gonna keep working on it.  Back to some outside work tomorrow with the warm up.  Can’t wait to use it!

  I did notice the screen is a much finer mesh than later 66’s.  Haven’t had time to dig into that yet.  Anyone got a lead on one of these old school fuel gauges so it would match the other gauges?

Today I worked on the tractor between loading trucks.  I put some paint remover on the shift, throttle and t/a handles to expose the chrome.  Put the new rubber plugs on for the remotes and replaced the “home made” clutch booster bracket.  Someone sure went to a lot of work to make it but it was UGLY.  Looks better now!

It does have those front coupler!  First I have seen in person on a 66.  I spent over an hour today putting the rubber hoses on the injectors for the bleed off.  Boy does the intercooler make that fun!  
  Best news of the day is a red power friend located me a fuel gauge and it will be on its way!  I owe that guy!  IH guys are the best!

I have noticed too, over the years of red tractors, the early 66’s had the small hole mesh screens.  If I remember correctly, I read it, or was told that they went to the larger hole mesh for air flow purposes, better flow.

Our 766 has that finer screen as well. All of our other 66/86's have the bigger hole screen

7103 is rewired and everything is about squared away so it can go into the fleet and do some work.  At the last minute I realized there is a problem with the throttle so in the morning I will peel the tin back off and take a look.  Need to put some wheel weights in it, throw on a set of dual hubs and a quick hitch too.  Just about ready to run it!

Playing with 7103 in the snow!  Its out of the shed and on the move.  Got a MCV leak and the left brake drags so back  into the shop but it was good to drive it around!

7103 has had some weights added and dual hubs put on.  Got it out today to get the planter out of transport.  Feels like spring!

I had an early 1466 in the neighborhood here but it got sold. Had the white deluxe cab and wet bolster. I thought I had the serial number but can't find it. Mid to late 7100's I think.

  This actually had a later dial a tach in it but I found a NOS rainbow and got it in there.  I am not sure what the break is on the gauges.

I remember reading a service bulletin about the later tachometers. I think they changed when they went ti 2600 rpm rated speed. But not positive. Not sure on the rest of the gauges. 

Does it have a 6 or 8 blade fan? My 71 1066 has 8, the later 1066 I have is a 1973 model and has 6.

 I don’t think so.  It was born without on and it’s made it this far so I think I will leave it how it is.  I will add some conditioner to it and keep and eye on it.

Did you find a rainbow with the matching IH in it? All 5 gauges had that same early logo.

Put 7103 to work today for a bit.  Wanted to make sure the ole 400 planter works.  Need a couple row sensors but she worked like a champ otherwise.  Still cold and wet here.  Rain thru mid week.
