But how does that relate to diesel fuel in use???

Like 6 MPG of diesel at $6 vs 10 units of CNG at $1.59 for example. Not real numbers, just explaining my question.

I can’t answer that. I know that UPS, FedEx, and others WERE big into CNG, out in that area, but as @jass1660 said UPS isn’t using them, once the truck is worn out.

Swan (divco milk= gmc 5Xxx ice cream) was BIG/big into them,,,Dont see the repair shops or $5x deliverys any more.    comparable $ to B & J 1/2 pint or omaha steak.

Ups had for a while.  Guy in town had free Ngas (1900 contract $50/mo)+ (2000) where they paid $ .00001 . So he installed LNG station.  70-100 miles took +- 8 hrs to condense/ refill.....never let on mpg?  as electric was $10x free

Diesel was 5.99 and at the town close to home was 5.89. Coming home from work last night the station here jumped from 5.29 to 5.89

6.29 at the Sheetz at I81 exit 251 at Harrisonburg Va. Lots of other places are 5.99.

I still see cars and pickups running to keep the car or truck cool while people are shopping...

I have gone to fuel sur charge. I hate to do it, but fuel prices keep jumping faster than I can keep up.

$6:21 here today.   Cullman Alabama.   Off road .50 to .60 cents cheaper.   Gas regular is $3:59 to $3:89.   Never thought I would see diesel that much higher than gas.  Anybody has to buy for fall harvest it is going to cost to run.

Paid $ 6.69 is Eastern Iowa yesterday for deisel.

I remember when it was $0.50 a gallon...

But I barely remember the gas shortages when you couldn't get it.

Remember gas at .19 cents.  Would have been 1969 or so.   Usually was .28 to .32 cents.  Heard an uncle tell of paying .11 cents once for farm fuel.   Also heard an uncle say when the gas shortages started that it was a trick. Gas would never be a dollar a gallon.  He died just before it hit $1.

I remember gas pumps that couldn't price the gas over 99 cents a gallon. 

They had to price it at half price at the pump and double it when you paid!!!

Try to get someone to figure that out now!!!

My area of S. E. Pennsylvania gas is $4.39, my niece went to visit her boyfriend in the Pocono Mountains yesterday (40 miles away) and found a Sunoco station with $3.45 gas.

UPDATE!

My niece went by the station about an hour later, gas was over $4.00, she thinks maybe somebody got fired for posting the wrong price!!😀😀😀

I have a buddy who’s hauling livestock sent me a picture from California of 7.35 diesel. I filled yesterday for $5.49. Gonna be to be tough to make money on this load of hay.

But a couple gallons of gas is still cheaper than an ER visit for heat stroke.

Part of the reason I don’t own the truck. I drive someone else’s.

Same here in North Dakota. Small town I live in is 4.19. Put gas in about 30 miles north for 3.99. They are 30 more miles away from terminal and 20 cents cheaper. We are overrun here by Cenex stations they own most every towns stations or supply gas to them. So they control the price and sadly most coops here are not making much money. We had to gone to Minneapolis on Wednesday came back on Friday. 520 miles one way. Gas in Fargo ND was 3.59 60 cents cheaper than us. 250 miles away and their gas is from a tank farm 120 miles away ours is a 60 mile haul.

Round here the price has nothing to do with distance to the terminal. It has to do with the competition.

When I was a kid, back  in the 70s the price of gas was regulated. I think prices changed twice a month.

Reagan deregulated gas prices.

I had two different guys tell me that they are putting 26 gallons an hour through their new combines. I don't know how that breaks down to gallons per acre but the bill would be big

Add the grain cart at about 15 gallons per hour, the truck at about 10 gallon per hour, it makes a very expensive harvest!

Been several year ago.  Around 2007.  Had the last of some major clean up done with a guy I had knew a long time. Showed up with a new cat d6.  He was a great operator and knew how to get the most out of the machine.  Told me he had the fuel turned up to d7 hp.   Asked him how much an hour it would burn. Told me in heavy dirt work he could put 18 to 20 gal thru it.  Think he was charging $135 or so an hour then.  Don’t even want to figure what it would run today.

I was just pointing out the obvious. We should be cheaper because closer to terminal. The funny part is our gas comes off a pipeline from Montana .laurel Montana I believe is a cenex refinery . There is a tank farm 3 miles west of Minot nd. Our gas and fuel is hauled from there. The pipeline continues south and east. There is a tank farm by Jamestown ND where others get off the same source. There is a small refinery in Mandan ND also that supplies the area. The stupid thing is Minot ND and Bismarck Nd are the highest price gas and fuel in the state always. The Minot ND coop loads some of their bigger local trucks off the terminal. They should have no or very little trucking expense. What I am trying to point out is they can load a semi with gas off same pipeline in Jamestown ND that pipeline serves Minot ND 120 miles upstream also.  They haul it 120 miles and sell it 60 cents cheaper at a Fargo Nd gas station.
