Congratulations to the people who made this video, it's a wonderful find and I wish them the best of luck- I am following along!

The video made me wonder though: how much of this rare old stuff is still out there for us younger people to find and enjoy? Like how many more Eagle Brougham 4070B's are left to be found? Eventually there's no more fence row finds. To own an Eagle Brougham now you pretty much have to buy a restored one or know the owner, because nobody's selling them.

It's one of my dreams to find an Eagle Brougham cabover to restore, but will it ever happen? I don't know.

Another point to ponder: in 50 years, will we be excited to find a nice Freightliner Cascadia? Hopefully not! 😆

Off my soapbox now, what do you guys think?

There’s plenty of IHC cab overs left around here. Most are not in good shape and could be bought pretty reasonable if the owner is serious about selling. I see plenty of people who have them for sale who are dreaming on their asking price. At an auction, they would be dirt cheap unless they are a real survivor.

The OP was talking about a Brougham, rare as hen’s teeth!! Sure you can find a regular 4070 sitting in the weeds somewhere, but a Brougham…

There’s an IH conventional with a sleeper cab setting out on a  property rotting in the sun, about 10 miles from us. I drive by that route on occasion. What were these conventional models designated? Transtar 4300? It looks like it would have been a gorgeous truck at one time- this thing has chrome wheels, chrome grill, chrome fuel tank(s), twin stacks, round headlights, big sleeper cab.  the tires are all flat or the thing has sunken in to the ground a bit. 

I don’t know who the h_ll would let such a piece of history just set and deteriorate like this. But, this property as a whole is a dump / junk yard sort of looking place any way. No Trespassing signs posted on the barb wire fence about every 20’ along the road. Sheesh. It looks like the whole thing is there, just setting forlorn and deserted. 

I might try to stop on the roadside and try to get a pic, but it will only be a cell phone pic and the rig is setting a ways away from the road. I currently don’t own a dedicated full blown professional camera with a telephoto lens. I don’t want to cross the fence and risk getting shot by the looks of this place, lol. 

This IH conventional is the only IH product that I can notice on this place when I drive by- speed limit is 65 on this road- I have to watch the road and traffic and not be rubber-necking.

A friend's dad bought an Eagle Brougham conventional when they came out new. It was his pride and joy.  I haven't been in their shop since high school (going on 40 years ago) but the trucking company is still going, run by one of the sons now. I wonder if that truck might still be tucked away in a corner of that shop.

Broughams are a hard find. My father in law had a whole fleet of 4300 and 4200’s with some Eagles but never had a Brougham. They were good trucks.

A friend of mine has a 4300. Was a road tractor most of its life but now it has a 14’ rock box on it. The last time I saw it, 10 or so years ago, the clutch was out of it and was parked by the shop. He didn’t know if he was going to fix it at that time.

Friend of mine still has a 4300 Eagle he has owned since the 80’s. I have used it on occasion to haul grain. It has seen better days but mechanically sound. He is talking about refurbing it since it was first semi. Has a fleet of new Macks now.

Kalcevics had 8 or 9 4300’s, 1 Eagle, that I wrecked. Last time I was there they had 6, 9370’s and 3 4300’s. Never saw the nicer trimmed ones. 
These all had 855 Cummins and 13 speed transmissions. Not a one had Jake’s.

What is so special or different about a Brougham?I never even heard of one but I am not a trucker,just a farmer who drives trucks. I know of Eagles.I always thought those coe, Eagles,Transtars where the best looking, most asceticlly please trucks.

Brougham Thread

The chances of getting a great deal on a desirable piece of old equipment is slim. The only deals to be had are before they are desirable. Lots of 1X68 tractors were sold for “a deal” before anyone wanted one.

Broughams are the "Platinum" edition of the cabovers. Premium interior and all the regular options, were standard on a Brougham I think.

Speaking of Lazy WP's post, has anybody driven one of those cabovers with Jake brakes? If so what engine and trim package?

Goodness gracious, your post about made me have a heart attack!

I s'pose you won't tell us where it is either? 😆 Just curious generally where it is.

Do you have any info on the truck like engine, transmission, history etc. that you care to share?
