Henry Homesteader 9mm carbine

It has been intriguing me for a while....

Certainly cheap to shoot. I have shot a number of Henry pistol caliber guns, and they were fun to shoot.

Had to look up Henry to see what all the excitement was all about? 9mm auto loader, I really think that Henry prices are out of sight! I do have two lever actions 22's henry's I bought for the Grand Son and I too shoot, the plain Jane type.

I would agree, I have one and it is fun to plink with.

However, I did take note of the Henry version and it would be nice to have a more traditional looking version.

Yeah, I think fit/finish/QC has been lacking on the last few Henry guns I have gotten through. I am on my 3rd Henry Mini Bolt, and I haven’t even given it to my kid yet. 
all that said Henry customer service has been outstanding, they have been prompt and courteous.

An AR15 in 9mm is less expensive and are very good shooters. If you like the styling and they are legal in your area.

I have never fired or owned anything by Henry but do own an old 50's  SKS 7.62-XX and several boxes of ammo. I bought it new in 1996 for $89.95 at Cabelas. What would I gain with a 9 MM handgun round?  10 round with stripper clip.

As of yet the SKS hasn't made it on the prohibited list but you wouldn't believe how much the price has risen

Henry is right here in my hometown. Big fan of their lever tubular guns. That being said, the ones with clips, long ranger etc. Im not a huge fan, action seems cheap or something. Its not the butter smooth action like we are used to. Might have just been the one I handled idk.

I'm sorry for your situation.

A lever action rifle in 357, 44 Mag or 45 Long Colt (my preference) is a good choice.  Plus it looks non threatening to the public.

Because we all know that a 9mm in an AR platform is way more powerful than a 9mm in something with traditional wood furniture. Just like a .223 that looks military is way more dangerous and powerful than my el-cheap-o Steven's .223 with the synthetic stock. As the sarcasm drips from the web page.🙄

I was meaning sarcasm toward the banning of certain weapons because they look scary.

I did not think anyone here was parcel to auto carbines 😁 before all the suggestions, you may perhaps should look at this first? I put this combo together and it's the best thing since the 44-40 cal. bullet in rifle & pistol from the 1800's The Ruger LC carbine and Ruger auto pistol in 5.7 x 28 cal. having a rifle pistol combo is a hot item.

What I like about the SKS was the low cost, good quality Russian ammo that was available in the 90's. About the same price as a .38 spec but a real rifle round.

I bought a new Marlin camp carbine when they came out. Couldn't decide ate that time to go 9MM or 45 ACP. I went with the 45 as the magazine is the same as my M1911. They were 200 something back then. Looking back I should have bought both. Fun to shoot.

I bought two of them when they first came to the USA. Paid 79.00 a piece. Later sold one to my brother for 100.00.

No disrespect meant to you ace my man, we travel the same roads in harmony

but if the sight of a firearm scares the public, they can suck my big toe. 

They will cross way more scarier things on the way to me and my hunting rifles

They better just stay in their basement where their only worry is

Burning the roof of their mouth on the last Hot Pocket their mummsy brought em

I understand and agree 

However if we have to use these rifles in a defensive situation (protecting yourself and/or others) public opinion can be important. Especially the 12 in a jury box. 

'Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6' the old saying goes.

I would feel very confident defending myself with a lever gun btw. It's only down side is working the action from a trench. I really hope to never be in that situation.

I have a Hi-Point 9mm carbine I have had for years. I know Hi-Point is not popular except for those in the drug trade but it is not bad for what it is.

If you are bored, look up the Protect Illinois Communities Act......the 2023 blight on firearm ownership in IL.  Appendix A has a list of specifically line item baned items.

It really limits the semi-auto offerings for sale to the common Joe.

I have a thing for walnut stocks, so the Henry looked intriguing, but to some of the points made above, for that much $$$ I would want to make sure they are reliable.  It also has S&W mag well options, so my pre-ban 17 rounders would work in it.
