Wondering if anyone would be interested in a texting group for this harvest? I don't know about you all, but if I have a breakdown I find it handy to throw a Pic and small explanation on here and read replies when I wake up In the morning. That's kinda tough to do in the current situation. It would be nice if there would be some resident longtime mechanics involved like @SDman if they would be willing. Id say probably keep the chatter to a minimum and use for advise and repairs only, as much as possible. If no one is interested, that's fine by me. Just a thought I had. If anyone is interested, just reply to this thread or personal message me and I'll see if there's enough that it would pay.

@Farmer B your.308 will do just fine tho, maybe find some ammo with a little heavier bullet, or get a box handloaded if your worried about it. Aim half way up the bear and a couple inches back from the shoulder and he won't go far. They bleed like a stuck pig if you hit them right. Also, if you are hunting over bait, and it's right up close, i like open sights, or at least make sure your scope is turned way down. Open sights are also nice for tracking in brush.

Yep, it's a marlin lever action, '81 model. Haven't shot it yet,need to get some ammo loaded for it.

We use a .45-70 usually, I killed mine with my .35 rem, did a fantastic job. I just picked up an old .444 marlin that I'm excited to try.

Single density or dual cylinder? I run my single system maxed out alot of the time. Usually runs around 2250# pressure, this is on an rb465. If you have dual density you run lower pressure.

I think triple R has any and all parts needed to keep the 88s going. I think nla parts are a thing of the past, at least for now.

With the deere I've always just put a little in occasionally, mostly just when switching between corn and beans, and a couple times in between.

Switching colors doesn't really bother me, I dont mind figuring things out if it makes sense in the long run. I really wouldnt even mind sort of building my own planter, start with a late model 7200 frame and put XP or precision row units on. Or a similar project. Haukos bros has pallets of xp units, or IH for that matter, 1200 series ih units run $550 a row, Just would like to try to get the best of all worlds lol.

There are a number of front folders running around here, not an issue that I can see. You mentioned hydraulic capacity, would my tractors run a 1200 if it had a pto pump?

I'm not against getting an older planter and updating the row units either, anything is an option. Dealers available are red, green, kinze blue, precision, pretty much anything. Usability in no-till is going to be the selling point if there is one.

We will running the same 1750 maxemerge xp this season that we've been running for awhile. At some point it will be time for a 12 row, maybe even 16 since it seems like 16r are sometimes less money. If possible I'd like to keep my 5088 2wd as the planter tractor, although I do have a mfd 7130 that would be an option. The 5088 is cranking a few extra ponies, so Power wise would be fine. I'd like any and all opinions on your perfect planter, all colors. We are corn and bean rotation, mostly no-till. Currently dry fertilizer, but switching to liquid could probably be done. We aren't talking new by any means, probably +-30k. Id like to see and hear what you are running for planters and why you like it.

Agree, however, our market report for calves has had two consecutive reports where the top calf was 2k or more. And beef cross calves were in the 1000-2000 range. So likely if you had nice calves no blemishes 1500 wouldn't be far off for average.
