Yeah it has. We’ve been in the upper lakes last few weeks, only had one day a bit rough heading up Lake Huron but it’s been an ok trip. Dealing with lots of electrical issues lately. Shorted motor windings on the unloading gear which nuked a big VFD the other day. Getting a boom truck and replacement motor next week. That motor weighs around 1000lbs and they have to reach from the dock to the far side of the ship to R&R it. Gonna need a fair size boom truck…

Yeah that was on the cement tug and barge. Not uncommon to have troubles with the unloading systems. Lots to go wrong there lol.

I assume, since this is a green tractor with yellow wheels, that you took it apart to find out why it never broke down?  Hehe.

Ahh that makes sense now!

yeah I got the green blues rn. This tractor was at the property when I bought 11 years ago. Got it with the house at a good deal (or so it seemed). Had 150hrs on the clock when I got it, it’s been maintained and has 950hrs now and she stopped moving on my pops while I was away. No forward or reverse, has hydraulics. Tried in 4wd and diff locked nothing. I got the charge pump and hydrostatic pumps out and apart rn. If I turn the input gear to the transmission the tractor tried to move so the hydrostatic motor isn’t turning. Nothing jumping out at me, had the pistons out of the pump and motor, swash plate moves, don’t really see any carnage to explain why it’s not working.  Probably just a fuggin relieve hung open and I didn’t actually have to split it…😡 fuggin green…

lol yep, looks wild but It’s pretty simple system really. The upper shaft is direct from the engine, passes through the charge pump and the variable diriection/flow axial pump then drives the live PTO, the variable pump sends fluid to the lower axial piston motor which drives the transmission either direction.

that shiny yoke there is the swash plate controlled by the forward/reverse pedals, controls the volume and direction of oil from the main pump.

@AngrySailor can you post a pic of the valve plate? contact area on the end of cylinder block looks a bit off to me but I want to see the plate, also assuming that is pump side, what does the motor side look like? it is very surprising how small of an imperfection in those pumps or motors can cause so much leakage that they wont work at all. I've rebuilt several that either wouldn't move at all or caused a huge amount of heat just from a tiny almost undetectable scratch in the block or valve plate, also the slippers can cause a pretty good oil loss if they get much damage

I don't know how that thing is plumbed but any suction leak to the charge pump will cause it to quit moving. I have encountered that on a 656 Hydro.
