Wisconsin Engines

Anybody here collect Wisconsin engines? I have a few on various equipment, all 2-cylinder type.

 Also have a pile of spares to keep things going.  Parts for these engines are getting expensive.

I overhauled a VH4D 4 cylinder for a guy on a swather.

That really ran sweet when the compression was up, the carb was clean and set and the timing was set right.

The guy really liked that engine.

Most Wisconsin's were good engines but were just neglected.

I have one on a welder. Ran when loaned out. Didn’t run when I had to go retrieve it.

I have a Hobart with 2 cly on it it was brand new in 1977, still runs great, always run the carb out of gas when done using it. We used one year to weld up gates and posts for working stock cow herd plus using for field equipment repair every year till 1995, its been semi retired since then.

I could be wrong. but I believe that Deere had a vertical 2 cylinder Wisconsin on a stationary baler that a neighbor had in 59, I forked fresh hay and hand tied bales, all day several times. Now that was real hay making. I was impressed the machine was older than I was and still was operational.

I’ve overhauled several on walk behind concrete saws.  Expensive to overhaul but run very well and last forever if maintained.

had a v4 on a table saw. Was good and plenty of power. Sold it as i wasn't using and didn't want to see it deteriorate.

I have a Hobart G213 with a TJD Wisconsin in it that I still use.

I believe I have seen them on hahns hi boy sprayers

I've got a few here most 4 cylinders. Two on welders and one on a pump. Also had one out of a skid steer that a neighbor needed.

expensive is relative they were 2x $$ when teladyne took over ....? 50 yrs ago.

IF !!!! you had 2 or v4 that started and ran, you made sure the air COOLING worked and NEVER shut off until DONE for the day!
