I have one of those miserable P.O.S.'s that has never ran right since day 1! Bought brand new. Might be a good experiment with some tannerirte! 1 Quote
766 Man Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 Working on the IH 770 disk. Put new 24 inch blades on the front along with new bearings and sleeves. I will finish buttoning it up Monday. This will give me a chance to double check tightness before putting the last of the shims in place. Still too wet in spots to apply spring fertilizer on the wheat. I want to plant a small patch of sweet corn next week but that will all be weather dependent. 2 Quote
DT Fan Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 Yesterday was kind of a weird weather day here. It had rained but not much, wasn't muddy. Wasn't cold, but not real warm either. Wind was blowing as usual but not as hard as most days. What to do? Remembered having a couple of shelf brackets! Plenty of salvage lumber around here so lets put up a shelf! This is about the limit of my carpentry skills but got it done. Not sure what is going to occupy this one yet but it will fill right up. Found room on the East wall for two more. Going to Ankeny today, will try to find more brackets. Also found what I'll call a chain rack and put it up. 3 Quote
DT Fan Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 During my trip to Ankeny today I got more shelf-brackets, bigger. 20" should hold two 2X12's. 1 Quote

Blee25 Posted May 1, 2023 Posted May 1, 2023 The boys got some more work done on the chicken coop. The only thing left is for me to put the roof on, which I was planning to do today but it was cold and very windy. It will wait a couple days. 8 Quote
lorenzo Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 Thinking about a way to put an electric motor on my old grinder. Dosen’t Sandhiller have one of these? 3 Quote
DT Fan Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 Got the Ten and Cyclo out of the shed and worked on it. Every year I try to make it a bit better.Tuned up two row units today, that took all my time. Will have a close look at the rest of it tomorrow. If the rain holds off I'd like to plant Saturday. 2 Quote

Pics? Won't be any planting for a while now as it is wet and rain in the forecast into Thursday. We don't seem to get much out of April anymore at least on the heavy ground. Quote

Alan Dinan Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Finished up another toolbox/step for the neighbor. This one has a custom design, as it’s a step for him to get on the tractor. 9 Quote

Determined there are five more seed boxes/firming points that need changed so I left early to get to the local imp. store on my way to work. Hopefully get them changed out tomorrow. I've been changing one or two a year and decided to just do all the rest now. Had one bad seed sensor, installed the used one I had. Everything lights up now, have one new one in the cab and I'm going to pick up another new one this afternoon. Had three go bad in one day a couple years ago. 7 Quote
DT Fan Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 Got another shelf built and put up. Had everything out of the shed for easier access, pallet of seed beans in the back of the Dodge. Kept watching the weather to the West, eventually pulled it back inside in case a rain popped up. Storms stayed South, sounded pretty bad. Tornados and hail around Lake Red Rock. Some of my shelves have a little sag in them so I put 'stiffeners' on the 2x12s. 5 Quote

756puller Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Got an 8200 another guy just overhauled. It dropped a valve and I get the fun of fixing it. 2 1 Quote
DT Fan Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Spent the day working on stupid stuff. Changed the oil in the Red P.O.S. GMC, probably doubled the value. Was going to change oil in the H but seem to have got distracted? Anyway, worked on my junk lumber inventory. Wasn't sure what to put on the new shelf, then it hit me. Not only did I stack this lumber on the new shelf, I inventoried it! Hopefully it gets used to build a lean-to. We're at least one step closer now. Got enough wood stacked on that the brace started to bow. Didn't want to take it all back down so I decided to put a little chain support up. 5 Quote
