It got transplanted into their 560 that was pretty tired, I think he has the 263 still but not sure, he may have brought it down to you at work. I know where there is a tired but running one, not sure of price, it is complete from fan hub to clutch, I believe the fan is missing, it even still has the alternator on it, it's sitting on a tire in a friends shop, it was removed this spring. Might be the easiest solution to fix Dad's 706.  Just keep it stock.

Used to have a guy that had a super H with a chevy 283 in it , would come into the shop a few times over the years

He has the longer frame, but would a 5.9 Cummins fit the shorter frame 706?

I would not think so, local guy put one in an 856 and it was pretty full near the fan

  A friend has a 706 with a tired D310.  He is looking at putting in a 5.9 Cummins.

How about a V6-71 Detroit?

I would never put a 4BT in anything unless it has the internal balancer as they are 2,500 just for the balancer. Without it at an idle they will loosen every bolt on the tractor I'm told. I believe that after having a fleet of those engines in xt skidloaders . They are rubber mounted and still try to vibrate everything

My 706 hood/dash is noticeably lower than my 856.

I wouldn’t suggest a 6.0 to my worst enemy!! Lol

i don’t know if the torque curve on a 7.3 would lend itself well to a tractor, but it would be interesting. Probably easier with an older mechanical engine vs the true powerstroke, though.

With 225 HP at 3,000 rpm, i wouldn't be too concerned.....

today I drove by a open station 886, sign said repowered with a 414 and turbo, some day I would like an open station 86 tractor, at least you dont have to worry about fenders and I think they look really sharp
