Didnt know we had this thread! Most of the males on my side of the family are into horses in some way or another (I was bitten once and never went near one again but love watching the boys on them) this is my Uncle Tom, I'd assume some time in the late 60s!

When I had my mule Amos and my wife had her horse Tigger, they would both run all right, when they saw the halters.....Amos to the hitching post, and Tigger to the farthest point from us he could get.

Lisa’s old grey horse passed away last night. 21 years old. Probably the “cowiest” horse I’ve ever seen. She bought him before he was even weaned. Pretty sad day at our house. She rode him when we got married even. 
Blue took care of her right up till he died. We were talking last night about Lisa calling the vet to put him down and he passed in his sleep.

@Lazy WP It is always hard to lose a close friend that you have had for a long time.  Especially when you have raised them.  I have buried more horses sooner than I wanted.  My condolences to your wife and you.  

I love the painting.  I should do something similar with my stallion, but I doubt that anyone else would want it, so photos will have to suffice.

Sorry to hear Nick. IT's always hard when we lose a horse / dog /cat and others that are close to us. I have had to bury a few and it's not easy. Hope you and Lisa are doing ok.

I tried to find one this fall but couldn’t. We put just plain face masks on them and my gelding thought the other horses were Martians!!

i know they are practical but I am thinking how funny it would be to sneak one onto someone elses horse without them knowing. 

Especially if it could be done on horses in a pasture by a road. 

Funny as all get out. 

I know just the guy I'd like to do it to.

I have buried two horses on this place and still think of them often. 

A bond is formed that stays with us even after death.

...the ''Top Hand '' on the Rainbow and Raglan Station has ''got real.''...at last, and is using the traditional method of transport, to muster and shift the  cattle...

..the 'helicopter ' is a wonderful tool, for high country Farming...but  the hourly rates  on the machines are eye watering...thus the horses..

..you can see some of the breeding cattle in the back round...

These pictures are about 45 years old of Belgians we had on our farm here. We haven't had horses now for 18 years but I still miss them (except the one that broke my leg but that's another story). Thought I would share them with you.

It’s been a tough year for Lisa and her horses. She lost Blue this past summer, and took her “young” horse Sunny to the farrier yesterday and was told he has navicular. We kinda suspected that, but we’re hoping not. Sooo, if anyone has a retired, CHEAP, ranch horse for sale, she is looking.

Sure not a diagnosis you want to hear. 

Hope your farrier can help him be comfortable and hopefully able to do some easy riding.

That's why you hide the halter in the grain bucket. 😉

Mine knew the halter was in there (probably) but that sweet feed was too much to resist😄

Once the nose goes in, the halter comes up, easy peasy!
