86 F today.   Good day for riding. 
my sister on Ice Ranger. I think they enjoyed it as much as we did.

No I do not know who made them. That picture was on the Missouri river right beside the platte winner bridge.

No I have not heard of him before. Where does he live? He might be close to me.

His lives close to Marty. Between Marty and Wagner. He used to have cattle up towards Platte on the river, but it’s been years since I was on it. Kinda forgot where it was.

Our mare “Monda” has been at K-State university Vet hospital for the 4 days now. Diagnosed with large Colin Volvulus , had a belly tap, nasogastric intubation and is currently on a fluid IV. 
 Abdominocentesis,  

Might come home monday if things turn around.  
Not much to do in Manhatten Kansas.

What are the symptoms? School starts next week. Surely Aggieville was going? I have never been there so don’t know anything about it other than it’s a bunch of bars?

Think it was west river, but I don’t honestly remember. I think I would recognize it if I saw it, but that was many rides back.

I got some relatives west of Yankton like 20 miles. I will see if they know him or not.

The short version is Colic.

Twisted Colin.  Symptoms like Colic mostly only severe . We keep Phenylbutazone on hand and Banamine but were not effective. Even had the local Vet out but was beyond his ability to successfully treat her on sight.

I am so sorry for your situation. 

You have her in the best place possible.

About 35 years ago I had a horse that colicked. 

Local vet said it is not good and my only chance was to get him to Manhatten. 

He gave drugs for pain and to relax

I stopped and readministered along the way

Drove through the night to get him there. 

He all but trotted off the trailer, high hopes

A team met us as we pulled in. 

Didn't take long for the head Vet to come give us the bad news that it was ganganous and beyond saving. 

It was a long trip home for me the missus and our two boys. 

Very professional, top shelf staff and facilites. 

They even sent a sympathy card signed by all the people who worked on "Jack". with little notes from each of condolence which was very comforting

Back at it again! These cows are never going to come out! This is the 5th time this year that we have tried to get the rest of them.

Been there tried that😄

But a couple young, pretty salty cowboys got humbled that day. 

I think we were north of Lynch, NE, been 40 or so years ago.

We were hired to get 27? pairs that the owners, not local, could not get

I think we got maybe 5 pair corraled and the rest of those miserable old b!tches would break back when they caught sight of the catch pen. 

 Start em up a draw and they would just walk away from you. You'd ride until the brush got too thick then get off and walk until the branches would hang up on the saddle horn and you could go no farther.  Then you had to back out until you found a place to turn around. 

You could hear em but you could not get to em. 

I swear there were places where the tree canopy was so thick, at noon it was almost to dark to see. 

We come from the Sandhills and were not used to trees and canyons like that up there. 

When we finally gave up for darkness and made it back to the trailer, there was a local farmer waiting for us. 

He asked what we were doing, we told him, he said I told them to just wait till winter. Them cows will get hungry and jump in with our cows when we feed. We will corral em and call you and you can come get em then. 

As far as I know that is what they did, we never went back, whatever we got paid was not worth it. 

That is the place I learned how to drink out of a pond by putting my hankerchief in first to filter out the squiggle tails

The plum brush is the worst. Some you can walk through and it is all knee height, other stuff you could start walking through and it got too deep to keep going so you would have to get of and lead your horse out. The cedars are insane, because when the wind blows right all the seeds go to one hill and the other hill is treeless. 

Closer to the end I handed somebody my horse and went into a ceder thicket on foot to get 2 pairs out. In total we got 7 pairs when we were supposed to get 20. Some of the old bags would try and take horse and that's how a lot of them got away.

After we got back to there place there was some more cattle out and I had to put the bridle back on and go chase them. My horse was tired by the end of the day. It has been a while since we have done full days of riding.

Hopefully next time will go better.

We took 3 of our horses and a guy I drive with brought 2 of his and went to the local state park/lake for a trail ride. Brian mentors a couple kids, 13 year old girl and a 5 year old boy. He has them nearly every weekend and takes them to different horse events. They were off for the weekend and we have not been riding much since we moved here. It was nice! Oscar, the horse I rode hasn’t been ridden in over 2 years. He has a BIG MOTOR, but he did awesome. Crossed water way over chest deep on him and was the lead horse most of the way.
