They are 8 bolt wheels. As far as I know ford is the only one that used 7 lug. The wheel bearing is the same on a 3/4 ton and a heavy 1/2.

There is a difference in the frames

1500-2500 share the same frame

The 2500HD and up have different frames with different front rear cross members and tow hitches 

My 2500 has a eight lug rear axle but it is not a full floater  

So I wonder if the Avalanche 2500 has the light style frame

Correct the 2000 2006 actually had some odds.

 

 A. 1500 2500 chassis...    1.1500pickup/avalanche/suburban 

  2. 2500 (8 lug floater axle) pickup (only ones ive seen were canadian), avalanche, suburban.

All gas only

B. HD chassis

1.2500hd 3500hd   pickup, cab n chassis only.  Rails are way deeper

Gas or diesel models

 

Locally we seen alot of 1500hd pickups.  They were 1500 frame with a 6.0. 8 lug wheels and you could tell they were lower with the lighter frame. All were ccsb 4x4.  I was told it was canadian tax thing.  Less tax on 1500hd since was "work".  Now its less tax on 3500 since they dont count as luxury.  So we have tons of 3500 here nowdays since alot of our rigs come from the frozen tundra of dark socialism/dictatorism

To my knowledge, Ford never used a 7 lug bolt pattern, 1/2 tons, always 5 lug, 3/4-1 ton were 8 lug. Not sure where the 7 lug came from unless you are talking 2 1/2 ton or larger old school trucks

My apologies to the group, after some research, Ford did put out f-150s, heavy duty payload package trucks at an extremely high price that came with 7 lug axles. Quite rare by what I have researched. Again, I stand corrected

My good friend had a Ford with 7 bolt wheels. It’s the only one I ever saw in person.

Maybe they caged the brakes if that was even air brakes.

Likely an old gas job with juice brakes so they were able to winch on the trailer with out any real work.

So they are rolling down the road spinning the rears with an unknown amount of lube in them.

Accident waiting to happen nothing legal about any of it.

Looks to me like one chain on the front axles. Not that it makes it all good,😉 better than nothing.

The neighbors had 56 Ford dump truck, gas engine but air brakes. They split limestone to make flagstone. Mostly used it off road on their ranch. They changed the brake to springs put them on air released (I know they have a name, but what is it). Made them even more fearless. One day driveline broke, whipped around taking out the air lines. But pinched off the steel lines. It got up to good speed before it slowed again. No one got hurt. Sons luck ran out at 56 had a grader run away finally.
