MacAR Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Did a bit of brush-hogging with the 300 and 6' cutter yesterday, including chopping the stunted popcorn. Today, I started the H for the first time in a couple month... started like it was used yesterday... has to be the best starting tractor I've ever owned! Moved the drill up by the shop so I could run through it before we start on wheat in a few weeks; luckily nothing much to do since I did most of what was needed before I put it away last fall. lotsaIHCs Posted August 11 Posted August 11 I have a pair of 10.00-16 4 ribs sitting in front of my shop waiting for me to get the ambition to mount them...I'd like to find a spare wheel for the tractor so I can keep the one good tire that's on it now mounted up and ready in case I need it someday when it's 20 below. Seems that a lot of 1066s came with 11L-15 fronts. Mine has 10.00-16, whether original or installed later on. Quote

I like the 11L 15's better myself, since I don't use that tractor in row crop on 30" rows. It has a Year A Round cab with the factory fenders and can't go into 30's without taking them off. Mostly use that tractor for tillage and grain hauling in the fall. The other 1066 goes on the sprayer and 6 row planter sometimes. 1 Quote
MacAR Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Just to bump this thread back up. I did some brush hogging (really weed mowing) this morning with the 300 and 6' cutter. Started fairly early and only mowed about an hour before I started getting hot; thermometer shows 97 in the shade. Decided that was enough for one day. No photos for obvious reasons... 5 Quote

There are lots of good old running M/SM's around for not much more than that. Saw one for sale on FB not long ago that was sharp as a tack with good rubber and add-on power steering for $2250, and another that was just an old, rusty running SM on decent rubber sold after two days for $1300. I'd have bought that one if I could've caught faster! 2 Quote
MacAR Posted August 23 Posted August 23 I spent most of today on the 300 pulling the old #10 drill putting in wheat for food plots and ate a whole lot of dust. Had the boy on the H pulling the harrow ahead of me, and we both had to stop several times to let the dust blow by before when we came to the turnrows. Figure I'll have a sore throat in the morning, but we're done at least. 1 Quote
