Fun project! Just a note about something I learned with my 140 on a "strange" fuel problem. Not sure if this will apply to your A though. I had rebuilt the carb, changed plugs, wires, cap, added electronic ignition and a hotter coil. I was always having to run it with the choke 1/2 way on. I asked a couple of old timers about it and they told me to make sure I had good fuel flow. Things seemed fine when I checked. Then they told me to look for any debris in the tank that might cause a restriction after it was warmed up. The tank was clean. I was puzzled. A few days later I was walking through the shop and that little voice in my head said "open the fuel shutoff ALL the way!" No kidding, problem solved. 😇😂

My dad had a Case dozer from the 1960's. I forget the model but it had a bucket on the front and not a blade. I think it may have been a 310. It also had a tar ripper on the rear. He was hauling it to his shop from our house and the hitch broke on the truck he was hauling it with. He unloaded it off the trailer and drove it through town to his shop, about 3 miles. Steel tracks and a lot of people taking 2nd looks! 🤣. This happened in the late 1970's. I'm sure it would result in jail time today. Ah....the good old days! 🤪

I rebuilt this Rockwell/Delta wood lathe last winter. My dad bought it new in the late 1960's. I gave it a much nicer paint job than the old factory grey. I also built a cabinet from reclaimed black oak to hold the tooling. Today I was installing the custom brass tags my wife embossed on her laser machine. One more tag and it will finally be finished!

I think they call this an AV. A guy not far from me has one sitting under a tarp. I'm sure he's willing to sell it but I don't have a use for it. 😁

If it were me, I wouldn't tear the thing down to replace the casting. I'm not sure if there is any type of adhesive like JB Weld that you mentioned that will hold it in place for long, especially if you put the bolt back in. I might try drilling and tapping the piece from the side,adding the adhesive and putting the broken piece back in place but I don't know if you have enough real estate there to do it. You would definitely want to keep and shavings from entering the area where all the moving parts are housed. It might be one of those cases where just painting it over and calling it good will suffice. 🙂

Back in the late 80's I had a stinger exhaust on my street legal baja bug that looked like that but 1 pipe and way higher! It was so loud I had to pound a baffle into it. My older sister could still hear me miles away on the weekends coming home from one of the parties of my misspent youth! 🤪

I like this topic and reading the comments from you all. It's a hard world out there and any bit of kindness goes a long way in it. I no longer engage in arguments, politics or religion. They usually end up in the negative. I wasn't always like this but 2 people arguing always leaves both of them more negative than when they started. I see a huge lack of respect for others in today's world. Just because I don't agree with someone doesn't give me a permit to be a jackass towards them. It doesn't give them a good example to see either. It doesn't mean I have to be a doormat but I can almost always find a way to approach an issue in a better way if I take a few seconds to pause. The pause is golden. If I can see no better way I usually walk away and let them be in their misery. 😁

I ran cc in high school. It is insanity! 😂😂😂 I've also not noticed a runner that is smiling while running. That says something too. 🤣

I used to heat with wood but moved and don't have the option anymore, although I'm sure I wouldn't heat with wood in the same way I did in the past. We are planning on purchasing a small farm above the bridge in Michigan and I've looked into rocket mass heaters. It's ancient technology. They take up a lot of space but they are super efficient compared to the more common ways of heating with wood. I may take the time to build one when we move. It's a lot less work splitting 2 or 3 cord of wood vs 10 and I'm no spring chicken. 😂

All my Dodge trucks were hard on gas except the ones with Cummins in them. I've driven them since 1986 and, of course, I've heard all the jokes. My current 2500 is just over 260k miles, gets around 10 mpg with the 5.7 and it's been a good one. I drive them until they are ready for the junk yard...except for the 1998 1500 I bought that was made in Mexico. I had it for 3 years and it had 17 pages of warranty work done to it.

Out of curiosity I checked my 140 to see what it looked like. Neither of those plugs or bosses are on the casting. There are some guys over on farmall cub website that might know if you don't find your answer here.
