Got the seat dismantled. removed the spring/lock back cushion hinges and any other unnecessary components. It now looks like it will fit. I’m planning on sawing off the two frame ends on the back side then the bottom cushion will fit back a little farther. Not yet figured out the mounting system. Might keep the plywood for the bottom seat cushion but the back rest I think that the original back rest lugs will be used. I’ll cut some flat and use hole saw to cut oval holes so the steel plugs nicely into those lugs.

Ok, getting back. The man with the equipment got his TD-20 stuck. That was an adventure. I thought his crane was rated for 60,000 pounds, not so, rated at 30,000. He got his dozer and his grader stuck, trying to get the dozer out. I was there the next day and got the telehandler and the crane moved over to the site. And it took some doings but the dozer did come out. here he is indicating how far up the mud was. 😹 the TD-25 coolant pump has been kitted and installed. Coolant system refilled and the dozer run for a couple if hours with no leaks.

The man I do work for has a construction contract company over at Big Sky Montana. Couple trips back over to there he found these third row seats in his dumpster so he gave one to me for this dozer. I finally had a chance to strip off all the unecessary components then plopped it onto the plywood bench. uggg, to big. I’m thinking to remove the back cushion and mount it independent of the lower cushion then cut down the lower cushion frame and cushion and see how that phits. 😹 Time will tell.

It has been quite a while since I updated this thread. Been working a lot and when I get in from the country, eat then fall right to sleep. Awake after midnight, to bed and right back to sleep. First of all it was mentioned that I had not posted about installing the tank heater. At that moment I did not have a pic of it in my phone. When I thought about it and was near the dozer I took the picture. and so here itiz. I thought of using the lower port that has the pipe plug installed but it would interfere with the throttle link rods so went back to the original plan.

Milo got the skid pan dropped from the 1978 TD-25C dozer. He was looking it over and reported tgat the coolant/water pump appears to be leaking out the weep hole. I had forgot of the different designs of construction engines and had forgot that the pump could be gear driven. He sent me this diagram and it jogged my memory. And also the oil cooler that attaches to the pump. Anyone know if a rebuild kit is available for the 310 horse IH engine and what the model number for this engine might be ? ? ? ?

HG11G and the TD-25C are located about 30 miles east of Miles City, Montana.

Welp, I aint been getting much accomplished. radiator in my 2000 Chevrolet K3500 with a 6.5 diesel started leeeeking. It is an all aluminum Champion radiator and about six of the cross flow tubes had begun to seeeep. I could not wait to see about warranty so had a stock unit with the plastic tanks shipped in. Got that installed and all fluids checked so now the truck is ready for a flight to Sheridan Wyoming to help out a friend. Wont be back on the job until a week from today, then possibly be using a week over in Red Lodge dismaantling three rock crusher/screening plants and getting them ready to transport to Miles City out to the mans ranch. thats about all frum over in these parts.

I went to work for a man that had thrown out an add in a facebook group that He needed help to install a FI pump on his Prentice log loader machine with an Allice Chalmers engine. I sent Him a message and had a job. He had another mechanic remove the IP but that mechanic moved on and is no longer available to work in this area. When we got to the machine I discovered that the drive gear had not been left in the timing chest, he tried calling the mechanic but had to leave a message. We moved on from that machine to the TD-25B dozer. What a mess. Peeking in under the hood, that AC Delco alternator was packed full of dirt. Even the vent holes in the back was over frame level with packed in dirt. He was telling Me that it was running pretty good but then it began to run out of power, he had to ride the clutch to get it over several hills and into the yard. Me: hows the air filter ? ? ? ? Him: doe in the headlights. 😹😹😹 Pulled the AF cover then the AF nut, slid out the AF and clods of durt fell off. Ok. Next he says that the cooling system is loosing coolant. I begin to pull the hood and the fan cage/shroud. Get that off along with the alternator and the fan belt thats ready to fall apart. On the way back into town we stop at His property line, there sets an old Allice Chalmers track loader. It has not been started in over 25 years. No batteries, battery cable from starter been chopped off, other battery cables is pretty well shot, but later serve as make up cables. One hydraulic hose is gone and the end of the pipe it hooks to left open to the elements. It is for the clam bucket portion of the loader bucket. He has a hose along that ahe had made up for that big hoist but turns out is much too short. He is talking of having the hose cut and an AN swivel installed onto it. I took the hose, looked, this hose will fit the AN and the pipe on the other end. End of day one. Next time I made it out there. Began on that old Allice. He had some used batteries from his semi tractor that He sold. Had them tested, two are good. After a couple hours of parts stores we made our way back out to his “ ranch “. Loaded up tools and back to that Allice Chalmers. Dip stick was to the brim with oil and diesel fuel so dumped that into pans. 15 gallons. Changed the filter. He topped the fuel, i worked on batteries and cables, 24 volt, and He checked fluid levels and greased the zerks. We’re ready. I failed to get out my phone for the first fire up. He climbs aboard, can of ether in hand. He is ready, gives the air intake a couple short bursts, pushes the start button, cranks about 15 seconds and this old machine is running, and smoooth, sweet sound. He is feeling the various components, I finally tell Him, put it in gear and see if it will move, He does and it does. We check it out a little more and He thinks it My turn so He does get a video clip of that. And so it is now getting late so we gather up the tools and supplies, pack it all back to the ranch, unload it all into the job box and back to town. Happy day indeed.

In a Harley Davidson forum, that I am one of the founding members in, I started a thread with this same title. Its a thread where no matter what I am working on it all fits in that category. Anything from lamps to sewing machines and yes, even that TD-14A dozer. If this thread falls out of the rules of the forum then please eliminate it, I’ll beg of forgivness but please dont put me on some kind of a restrictio. I’m still learning. 🤷😹

In a Harley Davidson forum I started a thread in there, I named it, “ Treasure to Trash “. Maybe I should start one if the same in here so no matter what poorjects I’m wirking on it dont contaminate other purposeful threads. I throw everything that I am fixing on in that thread. Finish one poorject, decide if it is a treasure, success, or, trash, failure and dropped into the recycle bin. 🤷😹😹😹

Oh yeah, he and I both have this malady called ADD, can You tell by the looks of his place around the equipment ? 😹😹😹 I seem to have a way to stay focussed on the task we set out to do so the production each day is pretty good.

He also has a rock crusher/screening plant setting over at Red Lodge Montana. He needs that to crush scoria and volcanic rock to make the trail into his place more passable. He asked if I’d take an interest in going over and helping Him to dismantle it so he can transport it to his place. sure I can. While I am off to Ohio He said He is going to fly to Florida, he has a detachable hitch lowboy and semi tractor He bought over there. He is going to drive that over to Texas, make the purchase if a TD-20 dozer thats needing some work but sounds good, and, haul that back to His place. The money is good, I like that. 😹😹😹

I dont know much about how to take a timed shot with the phoney, oooops, phone, i tried to getta shot with me on the operatirs platform but this is the best I could get and called it on the fifth attempt. UMMMmmmm, no, I’ll get it though. After the son and I get back from Ohio, I’ll try to remember to doooh dat. THe son bought a single back axle Leeboy road grader and now a road trip to bring it home. This is just a random picture from the www but same model of muscheeen. Too bad it wouldnt have been a couple weeks ago, before the price of diesel went so high.

. I have not got much done on the 53 TD-14A. several real cold days near zero plugged in the tank heater. head temp was about 110*F, block, I think it was down as low as the mid 80s but not for sure remembers. Cousin was here for a day from Red Lodge, fired it up for him, warmed it some, switched to diesel and moved it back, then forth and repeat several times. He was mightily impressed. Met a man on facebook. I might have me a job. He says He has two TD series dozers, one(IIRC) is a TD-20 and the other a TD-25. Now that is exciting. 👍😹

I have a complete engine, good crank and no cracked main webs. Heads is cracked bad between valve seats, so bad pieces of seats started fracturing out. Stitch and Lock kits could fix the cracks in the cast and machine in new seats could make them heads go again.
