  1. Might wanna try to clean some of that dust out of the distributor. If it had points it would be angry. 😅😉
  2. I knew a repo guy who would pick up cars that a dealership would shut off for non-payment of loans. He would reach up under the dash, pull a little gizmo out of the wiring harness and install a paperclip. He would then start it and drive it away. I recall being the passenger in a repo F150 one Memorial Day Weekend at a mud run. One that he had picked a day earlier but couldn't bring to the dealership until they opened after the holiday. This would have been about 15 years ago.
  3. Looks like Val Kilmer when he played Doc Holiday on Tombstone. 😄😉
  4. A very long time! Just today we drove past a house with a kite stuck in the tree. I said to the wife " You know, we have that big hay field next door now. We should get a kite!" Funny the timing of your post. I'm thinking a new kite or 2 is in order for us now. 😇
  5. My brother made that mistake of standing in front of his 1010 JD High Crop. His buddy parked it after taking it for a spin earlier and left it in gear. My brother stood next to it and hit the key. It fired instantly drove on top of him as he went down on his hands and knees. It stopped moving forward when it got the wall of his building. ..... then the rear tire started spinning and bouncing off his back. He finally got chucked out from under it. No serious injuries but a lot of road rash from broomed concrete and really sore muscles for a couple months. Tires were loaded too so I have no idea how much weight was bouncing on top of him. He's lucky to be alive and well.
  6. Thanks for posting these and for the story! Looks like a great place and time!
  7. I recall my dad telling me the the government censored the news during WWII. It made sense to me due to "national security" during wartime. However, I don't feel censorship of the news ever really stopped. We get fed what we will eat and if it's fear we are fed we will become it. I put way more confidence in my intuition than what a talking box is dishing out.
  8. I haven't watched the news in years. I do check the weather report on my phone though. Not that I can do anything about it. 😃
  9. That was such a common thing to get stolen back in the 80's-90's where I grew up. I knew of a guy who had a shoebox full of them. He got a visit from the po-po one day and went down for it.
  10. Sorry to hear this. Thieving is such a selfish act. It sucks when something is taken that you have worked hard for. I had a "friend" rob me of several tools including my entire machinist tool box with all my Starrett tools in it. I couldn't prove it was him but he was the only one with a key to my shop. Karma is a real thing so it comes back around. Doesn't really make it feel any better though.
  11. Pulling out this nasty patch of hawthorne. The boss lady is driving. Im on chain duty. 😅
  12. I've got an EGO leaf blower. It works quite well but without the strap to hang it off my neck it is odd to balance and quite heavy. I change hands often when using it. 😅
  13. My dad used one of these when they built their timber frame house. He drilled 400 1" holes in white oak timbers without any problems. He was in his late 70's at the time.
  14. Can you set this up on a drill press and use a ship auger to punch those holes through? At least your can put the rr tie against the column of the drill press to keep any excitement down to a dull roar.
  15. My wife has a couple of laser engraving machines. She can fine tune those things down to almost nothing so I would think they could smooth out wood pretty well.....but they still can't feel the finish like a set of fingers can.
  16. I have never liked working on small engines. I used to rebuild the motors, transmissions and axles in my vehicles but a small engine just baffles me. 🤪😅
  17. Thought I would let you know what I found with this machine. @Binderoidwas right that it wasn't overfueled with backfiring. It was needing the choke to stay running before I dove into the problem to fix it. I replaced the fuel filter and lines. Then I took the carb apart and found that pretty white dust everywhere. I cleaned it all up nicely and had no blockages. Put a new needle valve in it and new gaskets. Interestingly, the entire float assembly was plastic so there was no way to set the float level....you get what you get. The machine ran really well except it would not idle and it was dumping a lot of fuel out the overflow. The electric pump was pushing fuel past the needle valve. Now I had an over fueling issue. Later that day I ordered a new carb from a JD dealer. Put it on yesterday and it runs life a champ. Maybe this is why the float isn't adjustable? They can sell more carbs.....🤔😁
  18. We bought this old farmstead and a few acres. All of the outbuildings need foundation work. I'm in the process of cleaning out the barn to see what I need to do to get things leveled out and straightened so I can get things fixed up well. My woodshop equipment will be going in here when I get it done. In the future I might take off the pole barn siding and put wood siding back on it.
  19. I did the heater core on my 2006 Ram 2500 about 10 years ago. Had to take the dash out to do it. I wish I had changed all the actuators and seals on the flappy things because I only have air blowing from the vents in front of my face. Makes it hard to keep the windshield defrosted here in the north. I'm old enough to remember removing a leaking heater core from the firewall side of a truck, removing the leaking tank, cleaning it out and soldering it back together and having it back in the truck the same day. I was also an engineer in the auto industry for a while but got out of it because of the insanity of how things were designed so impractically that it took an army of techs and mechanics to fix a simple problem.
  20. A friend of mine's father was a veterinarian. In high school we used to joke that he got a self neuter kit for Christmas from his dad. Maybe this was true because he has no offspring (nor do I). 🤔🤣
  21. You could mount your fender to the outside of the platform. 🙂
