I had to look to see what an AM2 was and it looks to be identical to the AG3 my dad had. I wonder what the difference is? His had the rototiller with it as well.

My dad had an AG3. He bought it new in 1967 to use in a blueberry patch he owned. Had a 2 stroke diesel in it. Super loud! The engine also had a dry sump oiling system. He locked the motor up twice. Both times he caused by himself. I recall new pistons were $200 each 40+ years ago. It was an articulating tractor with the motor out front. It ran well but parts, at that time, had to come from Canada. All the manuals were written in German language so he had to get an English/German dictionary to translate them in order to work on it. I was happy to see a collector leave with it when we were selling off my parent's estate. I don't know anything about the tractor you are looking at but I have seen that they swapped ends on the newer machines and the engine is now in the rear. Just sharing my own experience on that brand of tractor. *We sold my dad's tractor about 4 years ago. It was not a tractor I would consider using on a regular basis. Just like any older tractor, it needed constant attention and parts for that model were hard to find. It did have a cool factor to it so for a collector it was fine. Just something to consider.

That's a hammer.....that #1! I have one in .257 Roberts. Best group was 3 holes touching at 200 yards. My own loads using a Hornady 117 grain round nose bullet. I haven't shot or hunted in years but I still got it on standby. 😁

I love Kroil! There is no comparison between it and PB. To me, the cost difference is worth it! I've used it for decades. My PB sits on the shelf collecting dust.

There are 3 things we have no control over: people, places & things. We only have control over 1 thing: ourself (and even that is difficult often).

Might be a good idea to pull the tappet cover off to make sure no valves are stuck open. From my understanding this is fairly common on the Cubs when they are not used for a long time and the pistons get stuck. The folks over at farmallcub.com are really knowledgeable about these things. Also the oil pump may need to be primed. They often lose their prime when sitting for long periods of time.

Oldie but relative to my project this morning using roofing tar on a "not so stellar" roofer's error.

Finally got to the end of the boss lady's LoBoy "non-start" issues! Main problem was rust & crud in the distributor under the advance weights keeping them from moving freely. Replaced the coil, cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires, installed electronic ignition, battery, adjusted tappets and checked the carb. Put a timing light on it and found it was WAY advanced! I'm surprised it would even run. Got that straightened out and she runs like a top! Time for her to do a bit of easy work dragging a chain link section over the rough spots in the lawn. 😁

There is a lot of good to be said about this sort of healing. 🙂

First thing is to check spark, even if you replaced all that stuff. I just went through an ordeal with our cub that ran fine when I drove it to the shipping yard but would not start when we got it brought here during our move. I replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, installed a pertronix ignition...that got me great spark but it still would not run. I checked the carb and all good there. I check the air cleaner and found build up in the down pipe from the air inlet above the hood to the oil bath. I cleaned that. Then I asked the Creator "WTH is wrong with this thing?" I was shown to look at the distributor advance weights. I took the distributor off and took it apart. Lo and behold there was a bunch of rust and debris under them so they were not moving correctly. It was causing the engine to try to start with the ignition timing advanced. I cleaned all that up and it fired right off. Not saying this is what your problem is but lack of maintenence on these old tractors can really cause odd troubles.

An old friend of mine had a saw with a handle on the end of the bar but it was basically just a pipe to grab on to for the 2nd person. I forget what brand that monster was but he had it working....just once.....for kicks.

Same here! I've been buying women's hiking boots in order to find anything that is narrow enough. Teva makes some comfy ones but there isn't much leather and I wouldn't call the ones I buy "work boots." Let the comments on my choice of attire roll in now.....😂
