MN Binder
Who's doing the engine work for you? What class are you going to be in?

lorenzo
With a chassis like that I assume there was once an engine in it. Did it scatter? When a builder starts with an engine like that do they just use the block and throw everything else away?
MN Binder
Nice! With Esdon doing the engine, it should run! Nice to see a new machine in the state again....
twood19541
The gentleman I bought the chassis off of, is building a component chassis and keep his motor. Most of the motor will be used with modification. Different crank to make it a 414 to fit class requirements. To quote Edson it should be a nice hot rod. Hope to make the Corcoran Lions pull for first run.
MTO
You lucky [broke] dog. Sure enjoy the vids you pullers put up here. Thanks twood. Btw, in these parts twood is a very common slang for "it would". Pittsburgh-eze maybe.
twood19541
MTO. thanks for the explanation of twood. It is interesting the local saying. I hope to have some good video this summer. Take care
lorenzo
I have watched tractor pulling and looked at lots of purpose built machines but with no one near by building one I have a question I have always wondered about. When your all done with a build like that, and it's competition ready, can it be used for anything other then that? Does it end up being an all or nothing type machine? Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate the work and effort that's been put into it 100% not to mention the knowledge that has been learned during the process. Since the beginning of time many advancements in engineering technology and performance have been learned on the track. Even car manufactures coined the phrase "Win on race day , sell on Monday" Im 99% sure they end up like a race car that is no longer able to function at anything less then WFO. Long story short, could you hook up a seven bottom plow and rip the **** out of some dirt? Has anyone ever seen a competition machine plowing? timbo1946
Speed Plowing ......... I think this is what you are looking for. I had a hard time watching, couple of times there had to be some pucker factor for the operator!
lorenzo
OMG that's Ridiculous. I should have known.
twood19541
Pulling would be the only thing that the tractor could be used for in current state. I guess if you put stock motor in it you could drive it for tractor rides. Just a toy for an old man. I will warn you that if you ever drive a high horse power puller the bug can bit you hard. I have drag raced and ride fast HD but the excitement of hear the RPMS come up and feel the old girl want to go is exciting. A wise old man once said it is the best 13 second ride you have with your clothes on. Think Spring.
lorenzo
Great video, that looked like a perfect run.
twood19541
It was. First place in 9000 open against an couple jet power tractors and Allison one. Not too bad for pro farm tractor. thanks
MTO
Read once that 756 things HAVE to happen for a car/truck to start/move forward in a controlled state then stop. These pullers only need 755 as stopping is a given... unless the hook breaks... or is it brakes...or is it... nevermind
bailey6588
twood, you are so right!! Bought a Kenworth set up for pulling.....OMG, I cant get enough of the sport!! puller806
looks like you got a good start to a great pulling tractor. i gotta ask, that 1206 you posted a video of, what does that have for an engine? looks like it runs pretty hard. me and my brother run an 806 with a 466 that runs pretty good most nights
twood19541
466 pro farm. It is a very strong and reliable 466. My engine will be similar to it.
twood19541
Block stripped. Sleeves out for fire ring. Tomorrow I will finish clean out side of block and prime. brahamfireman
So is the old 1206 retiring or are you Gunna run 2 tractors?
twood19541
The 1206 will still be running. I will help Bob out as much as possible. It was time for me to get my own tractor as this maybe Bob's last year of pulling
nate
Sorry to hear that this might be Bobby Dillon's last year of pulling. I have been watching him most of my life. That tractor was classic when it had the ICB cab on it!! Get that thing ready for Corcoran. I'll stop and say hi. Nate
