Lars (midessa) Posted August 20 Posted August 20 I worked with a guy years ago, he would plow in L4 TA instead of L3 Direct. He would go in Direct on the headlands and then into TA when back in the furrow, I asked what happens when in a tough spot? He said just ‘let it lug’. Of course he was a Allis Chalmers guy who didn’t care for Internationals. Quote

Lars (midessa) Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Depending on the style of moldboard, too high of ground speed results in poor plow performance. I had the vast majority of my time with an IH 720 auto-reset. L3 Direct was just about perfect mph, when a bottom tripped the reset will come right back down on the other side of the rock(boulder), almost scraping the soil off both sides of the rock. Any faster there is an unplowed trench that requires disking the field again. If extra finishing is required from poor plowing, you haven’t saved any time. 1 Quote

Anytime the plow encountered anything of that magnitude. I had to backup and rehitch the plow and hope you didn't have to pull it out backwards. Quote
