New guy with an H

Just joined, recently acquired a '46 H. I used to be a drag racer, but now that I'm a little older it's not practical. Looking forward to some tractor shows with my Dad this summer. He has a Deere LA.

Instead of looking like all the other beautiful restored Farmalls at the show, I decided to go Rat Rod style with this old gal, and add in some of my hot rod history. It's a work in progress, but it's already a ton of fun.

You will like that H, they make great shredder tractors if you have a need for that 

Hard to find Hs out here in W TX, looks like most skipped straight to Ms, those are a dime a dozen

Already love the H. She's a garage queen / show tractor now. Pulling a hayride is about the hardest she's going to have to work.

Not sure what the button is going to do yet. Definitely not spray! Lmao But I can't have a button that doesn't do anything.

Gonna find some fenders?  Sitting that close to the tires with nothing between you and the wheels just gives me an irie feeling. But each to their own

You don’t need no stinkin fenders lol

 

But seriously, I never ran em cause they are always already gone, but ive always thought they added a false sense of security 

but to each their own, i wish i had a picture of the M with 56 series fender I saw a while back, it looked like a toddler with shoulder pads lol

I hope that 2" strap on the M hood isn't very tight!!

There's a tractor junkyard not to far from here. Shopping list includes fenders, Mason jar pre cleaner and battery box lid.

I bought a brand new powder coated battery box lid from Steiner. It honestly looks stupid on this tractor. It's the only thing shiny red.

Actually if anyone needs it, I'd trade for a used one in good shape!

I think where a person grew up affects how they view fenders.  I've been told it was a law that tractors have them in some states.  In the corn belt, they were always taken off to mount the corn picker,  many farmers left them off.  To me, fenders look funny on tractors of that age.  IH 706-806 were the first I thought fenders looked good on.

All that said,  I have a Farmall "M" with fenders,  they were on it when I bought it so they stayed.

I have a 560 with Deere fenders on it. I've gotten some Deere jokes about them,  but they are not as big as the IH fenders.

32 years ago,cousin's son was raking hay with a fender less M. Hit a ground hog den and threw him against the rear wheel which grabbed him and under the wheel he went. Layed in a hospital for 16 days before passing. So I WILL NOT DRIVE A TRACTOR WITHOUT FENDERS. Every time I see a tractor without them scares the he'll out of me, I've seen what can happen. So, yes each to their own

I have an M with fenders. They weren't on it when we got it back from the neighbor. He had an F10 Farmhand on it when we bought it back. But we found a set that were free for the taking. So my dad grabbed them and put them on since they were rusty and matched the rest of the tractor. I have another M with a DuAll loader and no fenders and a third with no loader and no fenders. I have a set of IH clamshell fenders that are newer than M fenders that might make their way on the one without a loader because I kinda like the looks of them and I don't care if it is original.
