Finally got the loader on my 1066. Still have some bugs to work out but at least it's on and it works!

Nah...not really! It would have been off by now but 4 of the 8 mounting nuts  rounded off before they came loose. Used a half inch drive Milwaukee battery impact with 6 point impact socket and they still rounded off. So now it's time for the acetylene powered wrench. I've used loaders with grapples for pushing snow before and they are just in the way for that job.

It's crazy how huge this setup looks (and is) compared to my Hydro 70 with the 340 DuAll. But the loader seems to fit the tractor well. Just have to iron out some hydraulic hose issues. I  put on 12 foot hoses for the lift cylindes but when I raised the cylinders to push the front of the loader frame down and raise the rear to line it up with the mounts the hoses are too short. Need to add some hose or rethink my routing. The way it uses the lift cylinders to mount it to the tractor mounts is pretty neat.

I never thought of this, but my uncle kept some xtra hoses around with couplers on both ends. Put them on when dismounting or mounting loader and then took them back off when it was on. I presume so he didn't have a bunch of xrta hose hanging on the tractor getting in the way all the time.

That’s a ford N series thing.  Can’t say I’ve ever seen it on a full size IH

That’s because they work. Physics and stuff. Today you can buy a nice steel box and fill it with concrete. Or a nice three point weight rack and hang a couple thousand dollars of  weights on it.

I've been moving snow wih my Hydro 70 for over 25 years and never had a problem with traction. The past couple of years I've had a snowblower on the 3 point so really no problem at all! I guess I'll find out how the 1066 does with loader or snowblower or both. Around the yard I'll  probably be using the 70 because it's quick and maneuverable. The 1066 will probably be used more on the driveway that is about .4 mile and all uphill from the yard to the township road. Then sometimes it takes a day or 2 before the county gets the township road opened up after a snowstorm. The hydro in my Hydro 70 just isn't up to moving that much snow anymore.

That's a thought. I might even have some hoses around that would work. Haven't had the 4 bottom plow connected to anything for at least 15 years so I could probably rob the hoses off of that.

Id rather have the 8 foot heavy duty blade off the back....way more useful

I have an IH 80 snowblower but the 1066 is kinda overkill for that! The Hydro 70 handles it, but it will find it's way onto the 1066 when I have to blow out the driveway. I wouldn't mind getting a bigger one for the 1066 though.

Look at me,  talking  about never seeing many ballast barrels.  Then this little ford needed one today.  Hauled it for my neighbor  and even on a  firm gravel-ish driveway, the tires would spin before it would climb my (pretty small) ramps.  My father and I stood on the drawbar….and that extra 500lbs did it.  He’s going to mount a backhoe on it, so that’ll work

The IH 80 snowblower has category 2 3 point mounts. I'm guessing there are bushings to mount it to the category 3 1066 3 point?

Yes there’s bushings for everything. Or a bushing in a bushing. I like to keep those on hand and cut them into hitch pin spacers and such

I use a tractor and loader with a cab or 544e wheel loader to move snow.  Normally less then 12" a year and norrrmmally gone is 5 days and hate every sec.  I cant imagine doing it for months est with no shelter!

I went one winter with no cab. A Farmall M was my only working tractor and it was a brutal winter. Somewhere around 100 inches of snow and 20 to 30 below most nights. Never again!

It's ironic that you're putting your 80 snowblower on a 1066.  The original owner had it on a Hydro 70.  Dad bought it to put on his 1066.  You (as the third owner) put it on a Hydro 70 and now it will go on a 1066 again.  It's funny how things tend to go in cycles!

I was thinking about that! It will still probably get most of its use on the Hydro 70 because it's such a great tractor around the yard. But the weak hydro worries me when I get a mile and a half from home opening the township road so we can get in and out and the transmission will pull less and less as I go. It has been a great snowblower, the little I've  used it the past 2 years!
