Guess the year/ model

I'm working on finishing a restoration up, and thought, I wonder if the red power guys could tell me exactly what this tractor is without badging. So go! Year/model/anything that is different etc. Its got a couple things that are a little different then it was brand new.

I'm not sure what was changed but if the square lift arms are original, I'm gonna say late 75 1066 just before the black stripe came out

I see led lights. Added water filter. Not sure what the black levers indicate. Has turbo. Still has side crankcase ventilation so probably doesn't have pressure balanced pistons. Think brakes are to small for a 14 so 1066. Or was that only 12's with bigger brakes? Also upper grill doesn't look right to me but may be just the missing badge.

Black shifters.  No louvers in lower panels around radiator (whatever they are called).

Probably 74/75???

Yep alot of you guys nailed it. It's a '75 model 1066. Sn54xxx. The things that are slightly different im not surprised no one caught. It used to have long axles but they got sawed off before we got it. Hence no pilot hole at the end if the axles. It had a cab but we took it off before paint. Which is why the panel by the fuel cap is flat instead of tapered. Unless that is how later ones are. This is my dad's first tractor. It used to be the main workhorse for many years. Now it'll just cut and rake hay etc.

That's a late 1975 model. Can't tell from the pics if it has any of the updated 86 Series castings that were on the Black Stripe tractors as older parts disappeared. Is the serial tag on the bell housing or under the platform?

Sn is on the bell housing.

Got a picture of this panel near the fuel cap you mentioned was different?

I might be wrong, it's possibly something that changed with the later year, but I don't believe so. I just figured there's a different panel for cabbed tractors. It's a two piece panel vs a single piece.

We have 5 with cabs.  The last one is a black stripe late build. Ours all have the same panel as any open station 1066 I’ve seen.  This isn’t it…but it’s the only pic I had here of a cab tractor  where you can see that piece.

Pretty amazing that none of us noticed yours being different in your first pics. (These guys usually don’t miss anything)

Yeah I started googling 1066s and none of them have it either. Interesting. The left side of the small dash piece has a knockout for wiring?

Should not be any wiring knockouts on any hood or dash panels

  Interesting.   Did it have a hiniker cab at one time?

It had a cab called a Saf-T-Gard. Dad bought the tractor probably 25 years ago and that's what it had. Since then.

Center hood is a cab thing. Year A round and Hiniker both were that way on the first 66 cabs. It is not an IH thing, they redesigned the cabs later so that hood didn't need change. Have had a few of those here over the years. Were likely other cabs that did the same.
