  1. It was sold brand new by A.A. Anderson, of Harvard, IL. (dealer sticker on it). This would have been when the shop was "downtown" on 300 N. Johnson St??? Andy Anderson was REAL close with some well placed guys at IH and had access to lots of IH stuff others dealers didn't. He had a public showing of the new 460-560 tractors in June of 1958 and IH dealers saw them in August/September of 1958. Andy also got LOTS of low serial number stuff from IH and Hinsdale. I can personally trace several "501" tractors that came from there. The first IH 1468 V-8 made (#7101) is coming up on auction this Fall and it has an A. A. Anderson decal on it. It stayed local to the area its whole life so far. A.A. Anderson is no longer around...it was bought by the dealer I work for, Johnson Tractor a few years ago. There is a NO OLD IH stuff there. Alot of it went away when Andersons moved to a new location in the 1980's? that was eventually bought by Motorola (to make cell phones...but it never took off) and they were GIVEN a new place to move to that is their current location. Just like any OLD IH dealer, Anderson has some VERY TALL (and TRUE!!) tales to be told about it.
  2. If add a bent exhaust stack you'll gain another 20HP........just like the green with yella wheels tractor guys do....😃
  3. You will need 2 seals to do it right....78880C91 AND 78879C91...Both are still available at CIH...
  4. A photo of the tractor and the serial tag would be most helpful. Also any history you may have on the tractor (when/where bought) past owners, ect...
  5. Another 1010 or 1020 head would work great. Both are reasonably priced. If you want to upgrade to a better feeding system get a draper head.
  6. My highlight of the bicentennial was seeing this in person...in Madison, WI.
  7. What's the 411 on this????
  8. Since the show is moved every year and run by different groups...enforcing a no leave early policy is kinda tough... I attend a well know National show and they have a "no leave early policy" The show is Fri-Sat-Sunday ending at 2pm. If you pack/leave early you wont get a contract for the next year. It states so in your exhibitor contract. Pretty simple. I've been THE person for the Roundup (#2) once long ago and its hard to please everyone. Some left early due to travel time to get back home, I had some others (locals) show up the last day of the show with good IH stuff that some of the "bailers" later commented they never saw....well DUH!! ...because you left early!! Had a couple others looking for a certain vendor(s) that had left early too...They weren't happy. Chalk it up for a loss to the missing vendors. If the roundup was only a 1 day show...would exhibitors/vendors leave at noon??? Maybe a way to retain vendors/exhibitors might be to have a drawing at the END of the show for something EVERYONE there could use. A prepaid fuel card. You gotta be present to win, so if you leave early you loose. I know with the expense of hauling, travelling ect. to shows if my fuel bill was FREE....THAT sure would help and I'd definitely go back!!
  9. Here's a piccy from Maple-Hunter decal site that shows the shifting decal.
  10. Engine Oil Filter recommendation......Fleetguard Lube Filter # LF673.
  11. Have a friend running an IH truck dealership in NY state. He had a truck in recently for a work. It was 2? years old but not in warranty (that seemed odd to him). Anyways.... it ran from NY to CAL every week. It was team driven. 4 days out and back per trip. Then another team got in the truck and did the same run. SO....these guys worked one week on, 1 week off and made good $$$. There are LOTS of good paying jobs out there. People have become lazy and don't want to work now.
  12. the dealership i was at dropped the CIH brand and shortly thereafter closed the IH parts site I had made there.(I left there at that time) Luckily..... I had back copied everything so all I needed was time and to get good clean copies of the diagrams to put back up. in the future...I'm looking into making pdf flip Service books of IH (tractor and AF Combine) and some CIH (Magnum-Maxxum-Steiger- AF Combine) to offer too!
  13. I've been busy recreating/saving the IH Tractor wiring diagrams that USED to be on the net. After getting clean. legible diagram copies from friends at IH Hinsdale, they are just starting to be listed online. Here's the link to first few posted.... IH Tractor Wiring Diagrams
  14. Your tractors "born on" date is June 12, 2006...
  15. I know we stock item #36 (hose) in o.p. photo...$295 You can't have a hose shop make one as the angled hose end is specific to cIH. Some hoses you just have to buy and not "create" as they are unique.
  16. When you go to truck shows....you will need to wear this new shirt......(Mack guys love this!!!!)
  17. These were sold by Red Oak Diesel in Red Oak, Iowa. Sadly....they are closed up now.
  18. One of them is a 8900 series in the USA that does strictly TMR (pto) work. It has had 3 engines and 2 trans overhauls.(so far) Another was a 7140 in Eastern Europe, fwa that is used by a contractor in heavy work (slurry tank, plowing)..here again 2 engines, 2 trans overhauls.(so far) BOTH of them are taken care of and not hot rodded or such. Both have HYTRAN in the gearboxes too!! The original 3-step Magnums (71-72-8900 series) are very much in demand and good ones bring good $$$. They are well worth spending $$$ on to fix/keep going. They are D.E.F. free too! Once you get to the 4-step Magnums (MX series and newer) the cost of repair really needs to be looked at closely.
  19. THAT was all over 10 years ago too when I found them!! I know a couple are past the 150K hour mark now....
  20. For those visiting the National Farm Toy Museum in Dyersville, Iowa, you can see my 9100 series V.P. collection I have on loan to them in the museum display....Here's a sample piccy...
  21. Super.....THANKS for sharing!! I too have a large V.P Collection nearing 20 different models. Some rare, some not. They are big and simple when compared to others, but the actual STEIGER machine was that too. Big and Simple.
  22. I can document atleast 3 Magnums with 100K hours on each of them. Give them good care and they can last a lifetime.
  23. Is the issue only happening on certain/specific implements?
  24. 1............most likely 18-inch blades. Old blades should have a part number stamped in them. 2..........1-1/8 inch square arbor bolt
  25. Here's my conversion... F-656 tractor D = Diesel HC = High Clear HS = Hydrostatic sn# 37742......built later 1968.
