These auctions are killing me!

  A lot of good farm equipment collector items have been sold and will be sold through September.  I looked up the Terry Arndt auction listed in the RPM that just came.  I wish the M with 2MH picker and 82 combine were heading east to me but the freight would make that too expensive.  Anybody else been scratching their collector itch as of late?

I’m more in the camp “bring home first”what I’ve bought over the last few years before buying anything else.  Still have a IH 650 and JD 95H combine to go get. However have a neighbor retiring and I have spoken for his Steiger ST 250.  Just have to write the check

  I've got a few things here including tractors that need to go the next step in terms of reconditioning but have set firm budgets on spending for them.  I've got an Oliver 88 gas row crop that dad's father bought new but can't afford to piecemeal it back to prime condition.  A mediocre parts donor should do what needs to be done and have been setting money aside to that end.  I would like a couple of mounted 2 row pickers but in my part of the US very few were sold new here so they have to come from out west unless I get real lucky.  Interestingly enough a new JD 237 corn picker was sold new to a farm just a few miles away from me in 1965.  It was sold at auction along with the 3020 it was mounted on in 1975 but at that time i was in grade school and dad had his hands full financially.  Last time that I knew where it was down by Syracuse, NY it was in poor condition as it had been left outside sitting on the ground so some of the sheet metal had rusted through but the seller wanted 1,000 dollars.  Just was not worth it since a donor would have been required to refurbish it.  Maybe if I had a few thousand dollars to throw into it but had much greater needs.

A consignment auction had a 1750 loadstar dt 466 grain truck yesterday we thought 3500 4000. It brought 6000 and a dt 466 s series grain truck brought 4500. Both were in iffy shape also.

The Loadstars with DT466 I have watched sell (online) the past few years have been high priced and high mileage. Saw one with three quarter million miles showing on the odometer!

There's a 1456 on MP and another one coming up on an auction in my area. Very tempting but I told my wife no large purchases until our house is paid off. I backed myself into a corner

There is a McCormick 100 manure spreader on an auction this Saturday about 3 miles from me. It’s on Equipment Facts already at $466. Don’t know if I’ll get that bought. It’s had very little use and has new tires. I was hoping to get it for $400-500 but if it goes for less than $1000 I’ll be surprised at this point.

I got into the BN I just purchased. Didn’t take too much to get it running, battery and clean out the fuel system.  I have the parts for a buddy seat, got the floor pan cut and mounted today.  Hope to have it painted in a couple weeks with a #16 mower on it.

The guy I bought the BN from is cleaning up a property that he’s selling in Missoula. He used to run the New Holland dealership in Missoula.  I filled the truck today digging through parts boxes and stripping a couple tractors. Two sets of rear weights, a set of splits, set of Cub front weights, two sets of Letter front weights, M draw bar, seat and suspension from 1066 hydro, muffler from that and hydro lines from its loader. Bunch of odds and ends too.  If I think I might use it, threw it in.

I’ll go back again to get the pto unit from the 1066 and hydro blocks from under the seat. All that should fit my 806 if I need them. That tractor has a ventilated block and is going to scrap.

Auction  coming up couple  miles  from me with a IHC T-9  with  factory rubber tracks.  

Probably stuck,  burns too much gas, but maybe  go cheaper than the guy quoted me a couple  years ago. I want it, but I don't  want it, know what I mean?

The 1066 hydro transmission has value way beyond scrap. Should at least go to a salvage yard.

A 1066 hydro is a tractor I've always wanted.

The problem is it’s in western Montana. 2000 miles from anywhere that would want it. It’s not in my realm of dealing with unfortunately.

I tried to buy a Motor Cultivator a few weeks ago but someone else wanted it more than me I guess. I’ve known about it for years and got to drive it once but it’s gone now.

No luck with the 100 manure spreader. It went for $1100.  I didn’t need it that bad.
